Subject: Hair Question / Anders or Jason Hair at DAZ?

RnRWoman ( ) posted Wed, 16 April 2008 at 3:42 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 10:41 AM

I'm exploring all kinds of hair options for a figure I'm reworking. I've pretty much gotten some help with Dynamic hair and I'm familar with painting hair, but I would like to look into other options as well.

The problem is, I'm looking for a military style of sorts that isn't a crew cut. It's more along the lines of a slightly longer buzzcut. I've found two possible options at Daz... The Jason Hair: http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=3120&cat=125&_m=d and Anders Hair: http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=3885&cat=125&_m=d. Both of which are very similar to what I'm looking for.

Now that I've explained I can proceed with my questions.

  • Does anyone have either of these products that could render them so I can see the options available? I know that there are previews for them at the product page, but I'd like to see them in action.
  • Does anyone know of any other options or hair out there that is similiar to what I've described?

Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your reply!

That's great! Do you have any renders in your gallery featuring it that I can take a look at?

The hair in the link you gave me is pretty close, the only thing I would need from it is to be pulled back than combed forward. :)

Ah, okay. :) Thanks.

Man, this is a tough decision. The Jason, Anders and Daryl hair all look very similiar to what I'm looking for. It all boils down to the trans maps, and morphs available. It's sometimes hard to tell from the preview pics and lists of morphs if it can do what you want it to do. The Jason and Daryl hair look even closer to what I'm looking for. I just want to make sure of which one I want, as I don't want to shell out a lot, and then find out it doesn't look how I thought it would.  :m_thoughtful:

I'm looking for something with the top done like the picture featured here.

Yeah, I thought about that too. I'm not sure if they have a fit for David though, but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the link. :m_bouncy:

Hair is hair and can be used across any figure.

To fit a hair to a figure it wasn't made for, simply rescale using the XYZ and Scale dials, and if needed move it using the XYZ Trans.

Then go to "Object" in the menu at the top of the poser window and pick "change parent", then select the head of the figure you are fitting that hair to.

If you want you can go to your Props folder and click on the + sign and save the hair as a smart prop. The next time you load the hair it will load to that figure and be automatically parented it it to.

That's true. 😄

True, it generally works on most figures. However, I've tried doing tha with some of the hair props  from James, etc. and it didn't sit too well on his head (I'm using the Mil char David.)

Thanks for the tips though! I'll have to remember that when I do try it.
