Subject: We have a long winter...

bopperthijs ( ) posted Sat, 19 April 2008 at 6:12 PM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 1:02 AM

...and  although we have one of the coldest april months in decades, I'm not referring to the weather, but to the fact that poser-pro was promised this winter. And although this winter has changed to soon on the poser website, I'm getting to wonder if it will be ever be released!
Is there anyone who can say  if it will released within reasonable time or has Smith Micro cut down the development and is it vapourware?

Maybe SM has learned the Daz Soon definition? Hopefully, the longer we wait, the better product and SR.

I could be wrong on this, but wasn't the winter date set by EF? I could understand, even expect a delay when that happens.

Maybe they are trying to fix all the bugs. Or maybe They read the threads here and are trying to add all or most of the suggestions here. Maybe they are just making sure it doesn't bomb like vista, or maybe they want make it compatible with vista.

It's a big program. alot could go wrong. Release dates arn't set in stone until after it happens.

Well, I suppose it's ready when it's ready, and I don't think that's a bad policy but I was wondering if somebody could have some more information.

it'll be out before ya know it.  just gotta be patient.

p.s. it was so hot there last week at smith micro (gilroy) that they probly took a week off
to bask by the pool, whilst receiving free pedicures and massages from their
in-house staff, and enjoying sushi and california melts supplied by their in-house chef.

To be honest, has this been a winter this year in Europe?

Think about olivia, the female counterpart of Kelvin. EF (CP) announced it when P7 was released with the term "soon".

So, maybe the said winter but not the year ;)

With the snow storms that I'm getting right now, it's still winter. LOL. I've got 3 to4 foot snow drifts all around me. Packed so hard from the winds that I can't use the snow blower. I have to shovel by hand.

So SM is still on track. LOL.

I have been waiting on SM (then EF) to release Puppet Master since P7 came out. So I am not holding my breathe on PPro.

Pfft! Pikers... you know nothing of waiting! Go ask the gaming community how Duke Nukem Forever is coming along. That was supposed to have come out "soon" for 5+ years running now. :p

Duke Nukem Whenever, you mean? :D

Us gamers know lots of waiting games. Starcraft Ghost, for example, and even consoles sometime. Hey kids! Remember the Phantom?

... they actually  "showed off" that atrocity of a console at my college back in about 2002-ish. It was a shell of a console, with a light on inside it, but they didn't want to show us anything that the console could do. When they kept on hyping up all this stuff that it was capable of, without even showing examples, most of us just walked out in the middle of the presentation.

Anyone still care about Poser at all? I think by now Smith Micro has relealized that Poser has such a small user base (and with each release it's getting smaller) that it's not even worth releasing anymore. Who's going to buy Poser Pro anyway? A small core of Poser users and that's it. Their new target audience (not talking about people who already have a version of Poser and one of the more expensive 3D applications Pro is aiming at) doesn't like Poser at all (mainly due to what the majority of users seem to produces with it) and adding Pro to it isn't going to change that mindset at all. I personally do like Poser a lot, but to me with each release spending money on Poser seems to become less interesting and justifyable.

As for winter..... we hadn't had much of it around here. 2 weeks of freezing and a little bit of snow. Lot's of rain, wind, it looked more like fall lasted 6 months and we just skipped winter are into spring now, since this week.

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

I care. I need the network rendering for a number of projects I have planned.

If anyone can get me into the beta-test group, I could guarantee that I would place the program through its paces.

Had some snow this weekend here, but it's melting.

I do care otherwise; I wouldn't have asked it in the first place.
Winter is over in Holland, we have spring now, so it's time for an upgrade.
I didn't know Duke-Nukem still exists, it was one of favourite games.
