hi, sorry i know this isnt a poser thread but ive found us poser users more helpful than forums i know.

im looking for a program that could extrude a shape from a black and white image, i used to have one a long time ago but cant remember what it was called and google seems to confused with my serches for it.

Ive been asked to do a 3d version of the princes trust logo, and looking at it, its a bit more complex than i first thought.

im still learning 3dMax but am hopeing to do the main 3d work on it.

again soz this isnt a poser thread, any help would be realy handy

One such program is 3dRelief, which used to be available
in the markeplace here.  It works well for that job.

3dRelief isn't in the store any more, but the author, pdblake,
is still around.  Check his profile or site-mail him to see if he
sells it elsewhere.

I don't if this is what your looking for: it's a toolkit that converts rasterimages to vectors.

You can download a demoversion, which you can use for 10 days from this website:

"...extrude a shape from a black and white image...?"

not a modeler here so really outta my element, but... isn't that kinda what Terragen does?

Also, if you don't need to have a "free-floating" shape .... if you can view it mainly from the front ... you should be able to get a good bas-relief effect with a displacement map.   Add a transparency map for the areas that need to be open, and you'll have a 3D logo.

Here's a quick example.
