Subject: Bringing Scene in from Poser help anyone??

Whikadsista ( ) posted Sat, 05 April 2008 at 10:57 AM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 1:59 PM

Hello all,

I have Carrara now, and still use poser 6 to create my scenes...but Carrara renders so much better to me. Long story short, when I import my complete scene from proser 6, the clothes on my character do not stay on? The whole complete scene is fine, just the clothes and shoes do not stay put. I always render it first in poser 6 and it comes out fine. I was wondering if it was something I forgot to tick or need to tick in Carrara...Thanks in advance

When I use poser7 to build the scene everything behaves, so I cannot help exactly. But if the clothing stays posed, just shifted off the figure, you can reattach it to the figure by going to the properties tab, object list, and dropping the clothing name onto the character's name.

The clothes revert to the original flat like pose, they do not move with the character. My character keeps its pose. I will keep working on it thanks ever so much for your help. :)

If the clothes are figures, not dynamic, you can actually save that pose in your poser library. Then, in C6 you just drag the pose from the browser onto the clothes.
If the clothing is dynamic (use voice of solemnity here) I believe you must use the transposer plug-in.

After importing the scene in C6 just conform the clothes again to the character and zero it (the button below conforming). For some reason conforming is sometimes lost or not completely applied.
Do not panic if a piece of clothing suddenly changes as you conform another piece of clothing, just select the misbehaving piece and conform again. In the end everything will look right.
Poke through can be corrected by taking the piece of clothing into the editor and gently pulling the appropriate vertex (with soft selection). Just pull a bit and go back to posing to check the result.

I used to have issues like that when I used that workflow.  I finally gave up and started creating scenes in C6 Pro instead of Poser.  Ya know what?  It's easier, less hassle and you can pretty much do anything you could in poser, and some things you couldn't.  Add in that manipulation of objects and final renders are much better and it's a lot better.  I haven't actually Loaded up Poser 7 Pro in months.  It's also good to not have to deal with the Poser library interface.  That thing is soooo slow.  I can even use the Advanced Library for Poser along with C6 Pro.

There is a different way Carrara handles a poser import as opposed to just pulling in a figure, morph or texture from the C6 content browser. The latter is much simpler and doesn't mess up like an import can.

I have to second this.

Learn to adapt your workflow to create your scenes Directly in Carrara. It really is quicker once you adapt to this way of working.

I literally haven't created a scene using poser for months now. Nearly everything done in C6.

cheers,

SK.

Hello Everyone,

well , I am still working on using Carrara,( the light are driving me mad now) I have learned how to bring my poser images into it. As for the clothing well...I am trying to understand the "Dynamic" and how to use them and the "confirming" and how to make them move with my fugure...its a process but I am slowly understanding it all. I thankeveryone for your help, and anymore guiadance or input will be put to use and is appreciated greatly.
