Subject: Mimic Pro for Carrara

Given that I already have Mimic Pro and Carrara Pro is there an advantage of getting Mimic for Carrara?

It seems quite a lot of $ if I'm only getting the ability to have everything in one application instead of two.

 The only thing it would improve is your workflow. With the new update, Mimic becomes a plug-in for Carrara and works seamlessly within Carrara which is nice if your are working with both sound and animation at the same time.

I find using sound in Carrara is of limited benifit given that the only export format that supports it is Quicktime.

I only animate my own models with morph target mouth shapes ,would mimic work for this or is it purely a  poser type thing?

 Mimic Pro does allow you to create custom DMC files (DAZ Morph Controls) for figures - yours or theirs. It makes it very easy to create a phenome set for characters.

The really benefit comes from Mimic automatically matching the DMC morphs to audio files saving some signfiicant time hand adjuting morphs. It also throws in some random facial movement as well so it's not just a moving mouth.

Thanks for that Mark. Another question,once mimic has had a go, can you then adjust the morphs by hand in the graph editor?...ahh just found the manual at artzone, i shall have a good read of that!!

 Honestly, I haven't tried that yet and it's not something that I can test at the moment. I'm inclined to say yes though - although you shouldn't be able to exceed the max values of the morph.
