Hi there, I am using Poser3 (just bought it actually) and it seems that everything around here is only about Poser4...!!! Can anybody help me? I strongly need some tutorials, tips& tricks and especially how to overcome the bugs (seems there are a LOT). Thanks, Cristian

First, make sure you have the latest updates for Poser 3. Those are available at http://www.curiouslabs.com.

Second, it's true that most items are for Poser 4. Some items you may be able to get to work with P3, but keep in mind the P3 does not support transparency or conforming clothing. Also, take a look at the last page of 'What's New' in the Free Stuff or Tutorials section and work your way up from there...just keep in mind you're going to find a few broken links back there.

Finally, feel free to ask specific questions...many people here have been using Poser since Poser 2 and earlier and may be able to help you out.

Hope this helps.

Hi cristio,
I still have a bunch of my old Poser 3 Freestuff on my old site. My clothing tutorial which is mainly geared to Poser 3 is there also.

You'd be surprised how much Poser 4 stuff will work in 3. Here's some points to watch: 1) Get the 3.01 patch from CL - most important! 2) A lot of "clothing" downloads are just texture and/or transparency maps which need the Poser 4 clothes as a base to work from. However, as long as you're prepared to pose them manually, most conforming clothes will work. 3) Except for face morphs, most P4 morph targets won't work. 4) P4 texture maps for the figures are laid out differently; they won't work. 5) Most character downloads call up one of the standard P4 figures - as long as texture maps and/or morph targets aren't involved (see above), you can often use the equivalent P3 figure instead. 6) 3D models (OBJ, 3DS or DXF) will work, so will most props; but without the "smart prop" features if these are included. 7) Plain modelled hair will work, but transparency mapped hair won't. 8) Poses will work. As well as PhilC, Poserworld and 3D Comics Collective have lots of P3 specific stuff. Depends what you're looking for. Have fun!

There's a photoshop action in the free stuff sectionwhich converts Poser 4 nude female textures to Poser 3 Nude female textures, I've attached the link here.

I just want to thank you all for your quick replies! If you're interested, we are making a RTS Game, and besides Poser3 and TASM - for which we paid, we mainly use freeware tools (like POV, Anim8or, Blender, Gimp). One more question would be where may I ask questions (some stupid) about Poser3 without being a nuissance? One thing would be about texture and bumps...

Ask them here... in a new topic of course. Mention Poser 3 in your subject line. There are enough of us about still!
