Subject: .OBP converter?

i am in desperate need of something that can convert the obp files in bryce to obj or something i can use... basically i have 3 really cool weapon props i made a while back and accidentally deleted them all; bryce has the only copies, and they are in the user object libraries, and i can only export them as the corresponding obp files... which are of course completely useless. any ideas? thanks!

if its Bryce 4 you can click the E to edit mesh and hit Ctrl-D for an export menu

If I'm not mistaken...Bryce only exports terrains and lattices in obj format. Bryan

Yeah Bryce .obp format is proprietary and nothing can convert it to any usable format.

you can export meshes and terrains but you cant export bryce primitives.

he's right, open the smoothing menu, then hit CTRL-D you can export as WHATEVER you want... WOOOHOOOO!

CTRL+D will only allow you to export meshes that were imported into Bryce as a mesh. if there are any Bryce objects(spheres,cubes,etc)grouped to your object, You wont be able to export the item. Ken

Yup yup maybe v5.0 will allow for more .obp flexibility.

A terrain or symmetrical lattice mesh are the only two "objects" in which Bryce will modify polygons. i.e. Add, delete, and change the shape of existing polygons, etc. Boolean operations in Bryce do not modify any polygons; the result of the operation is calculated at render time for each individual pixel and is rendered accordingly without any real change to the true shape of any objects, or portions of, occupying that particular pixel area. There are pros and cons to this method which could be discussed forever. However, since Bryce does not alter the polygon mesh of objects created with primitives, even if you could export your prop it would look like one big jumble of geometric shapes.
