Subject: Vue Utility for converting Poser files.

I just had this thought the other day of some sort of 3rd party app, designed to take Poser files once they are saved from Poser..then optimize them for use in Vue before importing them into Vue.

I am NOT a programmer so I have no idea how such an application would work or if its even possible to build but I certainly see the need to for it given the large amount of Poser content available and the difficulty some people still are having bringing it all into Vue.

I'm thinking that this program would be very easy to use and be mainly designed for the artisit, like me who simply wants to create scenes quickly and easily in Vue using Poser content and doesn't want to be distracted by all the little problems asssociated with bring those files into Vue.

So thats basically my idea. If anyone would like to discuss it further I'd certainly be very happy to either through here or by email.

Regards,
Steph

Not being a Vue user, what would be some of the issues that people are having bringing Poser content into Vue?

Noel!! omg!! there is a whole host of issues!! I mean...god it would take to long to discribe but I think I can give you a pretty good discription if you go to this link

http://www.silverblades-suitcase.com/tutorials/htm/18.html

This was meant as a tutorial on how to optimize poser files for Vue but I think if you read through it...you'll get a pretty good idea of what most of the issues are, probably better then having me describe them all for you here.

In most applications I have the materials are not compatible so even if the obj imports well, all the materials need to be tweaked. Poser 4 or Daz studio using ONLY image mapped textures works much better but still there are differences in the value settings for things like specular and transparency.

Its not a trivial exercise and Vue does it better than some .

Well...I'm not saying any of this is easy or even possible to completely address in another application. My only reason for starting this thread was to indicate that I believe there's a business opportunity here if someone was interested in producing such a program.
