Subject: Loading selective ++Morphs

IsaoShi ( ) posted Wed, 21 May 2008 at 9:52 AM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 6:44 AM

Another thread triggered this wonder I now have in my head...  Is there an easy way to determine which ++Morphs a V4.2 character uses, so that you can selectively load just those that are needed, and then any others that you decide you need later?

Not that I know of.  But then again I just recently discovered that all of her morph dials are actually hidden and you need a script to unhide them so you can work on individual body parts instead of a whole group together.

That won't help you load only specific morphs, but it will help you see all of the morphs that have been added.

**IsaoShi** Just inject them all. Easier. Incase you're having problems finding them they are in the folder circled. Click directly on that folder. I do hope the matposebuilder gets updated to handle V4.2 injects. It will make things easier for everyone. AprilYSH also has a V4.2 character that will atomatically load the morphs ++ with it and  or A4. Here (navigate to 3d freebies, scroll down some)

Quess you weren't having problems finding them. lol. Must have only been me who didn't know where they were for weeks.

IsaoShi ( ) posted Wed, 21 May 2008 at 4:01 PM

Thanks, Yvonne - I agree it is much easier just to stick them all in, especially if you need to experiment with the dials a lot (like I do) to find a combination that gives exactly what you are looking for. I use around a dozen morph dials just to get a decent looking smile! I've created my own V4.2+Morphs++ single click loader.

But someone else was asking if it is really necessary to always load those hundreds of morph dials. So I wondered if there was a way to determine what subset of them any particular character uses. Then they could build a custom morph++ injector just for that character. Not so easy, it seems!

And no, it wasn't/isn't just you - it seems to be quite a common problem for those who have moved from V4/V4.1 to V4.2.

Trying to remember where the dial cleaner script was located - I'm sure someone created something that removed unused morphs, so only those used by a given character actually remained injected.

Attached Link: Injection Pose Builder

Injection pose builder availible over at DAZ is the tool to use, it will create an injection pose of just the morphs which are not zeroed. that way in the future you have an injection pose for your specific character which will only load those morphs. it doesn't mention V4.2 but I have used it for her as well.

I'm sure there was a script called dial cleaner, or similar, though, which stripped out the unused morphs from your poser scene/character...

Hmm, two possible ways to skin the cat... thanks for your input.
The write up on Injection Pose Builder says it's for V3. I suppose it should work with V4.2, but I'm not paying $20 only to find out it won't.
I'll have a look around for that script that sneaks up on the cat from behind.

I couldn't get Inject pose builder to work on V4.2. Quess I'll try again. I could add V4.2 to the library in InjPoseBuilder but making an inject never worked for me.

wdupre ( ) posted Wed, 21 May 2008 at 8:03 PM

you have to add her to the library first, otherwise it won't work but its not that difficult to do so. and yes as I said I have successfully created characters and saved them with Inj pose builder.

Johnthecelt,as far as dial cleaner that doesn't do what you think, what that script does is simply hide any channels in a saved cr2 that dont actually have deltas loaded into them.  the reason for the script is that Poser automatically unhides all morph channels when you save a cr2 or pz3 even the channels have not been injected. which means that the next time you open the cr2 or scene you have dials that do nothing showing up.

I want to get it to work!  I can add V4 to the library but my saved inj doesn't load the morphs++. It only changes the dials that are already on V4 and I still have to load the morphs++ manually before using the inject.  It just won't inject them for me.

To the OP, all you need to do is open the .pz2 file that "Injects" the character with a text editor, you'll see a list of the morphs necessary for the figure right up top.

And the link is to the thread here about using IPB with Victoria 4.1, but it should also work with V4.2.

actually the instructions in that link aren't right.
here is what you need to do.

Creating Link Libraries and IPB Prep Pose.

1 In Poser first make sure that you turn off save external Binary morphs in your preferences.

2 Load V4.2

3 inject all morphs

4 Save back to library

5 In IPB Open saved V4

6 Select Create New

7 Fill in dialog

8 When Choose a file comes up go to !DAZ/Victoria 4 folder and select one of the pz2 files in that folder.

9 This is the PIA part, Select all the expression morphs.

10 You are done creating a link library but you want to do one more thing create an IPB prep file. Do this by selecting Tools create IPB Prep Pose. The pose will be created and to save it simply select your new Victora4.2 and hit save.

OK this is done, you never have to do this again unless you install new injection morphs which you want to use in your characters.

Creating V4 character.

1 create your character with Victoria 4

2 apply your IPB Prep pose, your character will disappear but that's OK, the dial settings are still there just the deltas have been removed in order to speed up the IPB process.

3 save your character back to the library.

4Open your character in IPB

5 Select your Victoria4.2 prep file.

6 For settings I use the defaults, except also check Exclude Zeroed Channels, and also I tend to use Selected actors only and select the Head and Body, since I don't tend to set morphs in the other body parts. This tends to clear out the jcms which weren't zeroed.

7 Process Options.

8 Save Injection pose.

Just found a reference to Poser Tollbox, by PhilC, which has the option to delete all non-delta morphs (morphs which haven't been used) from a figure. Theres a host of other little gadgets and bits in the toolbox as well, so a very worthy product for the price (as all of Phil's items are)

**wdupre** I printed out your directions. I cann't figure out how to "Select your Victoria4.2 prepfile" the 5th step under your second part "Creating V4 character". It looks like this, and when I click on the Victoria4.2 prep. It then deselects V4 and nothing happens. Any clue what I'm doing wrong by looking at this? I hate to bother you, I"m one of those if there is a slight chance to do it wrong I'll do it, probably a million times wrong. Know what I'm missing? besides comprehension. Thanks for the help, appreciated much!

wdupre ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 8:34 PM

Im sorry I wrote the wrong thing what I meant in step 5 was select your V4.2 Link library. (going back to fix my response to you in the daz forum too. :P )
