For my friends that requested a copy of Plain Jane.  Here's where I'm at,  Jane is just about rebuilt using the mark3 mesh.  Hopefully,  I'll be able to send you all your copies this memorial day weekend.

Would you like a copy?

Hi John

Thanks!  Pm me with your e mail address.  You have my permission to use her in commercial renders.

It's my hope,  though that everyone who uses her in a commercial render will find it in their hearts to take part of the profit and make a small donation here.

Hi Patorak!

I wondered where you went with Plain Jane, You used to post progress in the developers forum.
Will you release it commercially when its finished?

The wrists are kind of small. Just putting that out there.

Looking good, patorak !!

patorak ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 6:08 AM

Hi Geoegress
Pm me here with your e mail address,  and I'll send you a copy.

Hi Jonnybode
I'm not going to sell her,  but I will give my friends a copy if they'd like.  Right now,  I'm going to use her in a demo reel and portfolio,  i'm putting together.

Hi Teyon.
Thanks.  I'm thinking,  before I adjust the hand size and wrist size,  I want to check the proportions of the arms.  Kind of see how far they hang down.  I think the arms may be too long,  and that may cause bending problems,  even in Lightwave.  I do want to keep her at 7 heads tall,  and size 12,  though.

Hi Mathman
Thanks!  Let me know if you'd like a copy.

mathman ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 7:39 AM

Hi patorak,
Yes I would love a copy ! ....  thank you so much :)

patorak ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 7:43 AM

You're welcome!  I'll post an update on her later today.

Teyon ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 8:30 AM

The length from forearm to hand is what's making the arm look long. The elbow seems to fall in the proper place, so that kind of has to be the problem and would explain the thin look.

patorak ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 9:11 AM

Thanks.  i knew something was off on the arms and I couldn't quite pinpoint it.  I'm thinking that the ref pic had a slight barrel effect or I need new glasses LOL..  BTW I used Simona from 3dsk.  I'll use a copy of the hand to adjust the forearm.  I'll have to look up the ratio,  though.

-Timberwolf- ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 9:15 AM

She seems to be a more full figured character so I think it would be fit to smooth her belly / hip region - at least as a morph target.

jonnybode ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 9:30 AM · edited Thu, 22 May 2008 at 9:30 AM

Hi Patorak!

Is it ok if I ask for a copy?

Regards / Jonny

patorak ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 9:35 AM

A smooth abdomen morph target sounds like a good idea.

patorak ( ) posted Thu, 22 May 2008 at 9:39 AM

Hi Jonny

Sure!  The only thing I ask is that if you do commercial renders,  please donate a small portion of your profits here.  http://www.ucp.org/

Nice work here, Patorak... I was a sometime lurker on your plain jane development thread, and admired what you were doing, and the Catwoman outfit you're working on for SSafam1 at the moment is also stunning.

Keep up the fantastic work.

patorak:

i like what you're doing if i understand. i am creating a clipart library for my program for kids to make their own pictures and tell stories. i want them to have use of images of real people in addition to all the super model types that are most common as content.

-Timberwolf- ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2008 at 9:56 AM

I read about plain Jane development at DAZ. Must have been "pain Jane" .

patorak ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2008 at 10:29 AM

Hi Timberwolf

Yep!  The knife wound in my back has healed up though.  LOL

Hi Dennisharoldson

I think Poser has been held captive by fashion models and buffed hunks long enough.  It's time for a change.

Hi Jonthecelt

Thank you.  SSAfam1 deseves half the credit though.  It's her designs I'm modeling off of.

odeathoflife ( ) posted Fri, 23 May 2008 at 2:56 PM

Looks like a nice figure good luck with the demo reel.

Hi Odeathoflife

Thanks!  Poser version is 40k,  Daz Studio and Lightwave version 14k.  I wish Poser supported Sub-D.

she's coming along really nicely.
If you have another copy, I will happily take one and give her a try.
Thanks

Hi Dave-So

Thanks!  PM me here with your email address and I'll send you a copy as soon as I'm finished.  I've got her welded back together.  I'll surface her tomorrow morning.

jonthecelt ( ) posted Sat, 24 May 2008 at 3:29 AM

I'll confess, i'd love a copy as well. It's great to see someone modelling a character with a more 'normal' appearance out of the box - and the work you've done with joint parameters is stunning.

Hi JonTheCelt

Thanks!  Pm me here with your email address and I'll send you a copy.  You know,  there were two reasons for plain Jane and the plain folk line of figures.  The first was to sell them and buy my son's braces and walker.  He has cerebral palsey and needs them to walk.  The second reason was to provide people with realistic figures they could use in commercial renders and demo reels.  A figure on par with Masha and Alicia but at a price those here in the community could afford.

The project fell through though.  See,  three individuals decided to seize the opportunity to promote themselves.  They used the classic thesis, anti-thesis,  synthesis to accomplish it.
They offered help,  I accepted.  The help I got though was public postings of "I don't like this,  I don't like that" and "we don't know how well she'll do".  In private they sent me their models to fix first before any work was started on the plain folk line of figures.  Bare in mind these three individuals knew the reasons I wanted to sell these figures.

I'm down to two options to get the help my son needs.  The first is passing Jane out to my friends and hoping they'll use her in commercial renders and demo reels.  And take a portion of their profits and make a small donation here.  http://www.ucp.org/   The second is to go see my best friend.

jonthecelt ( ) posted Sat, 24 May 2008 at 3:06 PM

Well, I'll be totally honest and say I'm not sure I would fall into the comercial renders side of things here - I'm purely hobbysit thus far, although I am cnsidering a few ideas of making money with Poser - and in our current financial status, giving a donation isn't an option without extra income. This upsets me, because I really want to give something - I know how I would feel if either of my daughters was in a similar condition. I did love your Iron Man story over on the DAZ forums, though, and I hope your son is still enjoying wearing his power harness... :)

patorak:

this thread is going beyond plain jane and i am missing important details. i tried to find the posts on daz that told about your son but there were too many pages and the search engine didn't help.

i have a daughter and 2 grandsons. there have been problems, but nothing like what i am hearing. please feel free to have a discussion with me via site mail. i think i can help out in some way.

Hi JonThe Celt

*although I am cnsidering a few ideas of making money with Poser

That's the spirit!  I got full faith you too!  If there's anything you need let me know.

Hi Dennisharoldson

What's done is done.  I wish I had the time to go into detail,  but I've got a lot to do and so little time.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Sun, 25 May 2008 at 11:40 AM

Hi Pat, I'd definitely like a copy too :)

patorak ( ) posted Sun, 25 May 2008 at 1:15 PM

I gotcha on the top of the list!  If you don't mind after I finish Jane would you like to test the mark 3 mesh.  It's going to be the base for the line of plain folk figures.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Sun, 25 May 2008 at 3:57 PM

Excellent!  Here's the progress on the mark 3 mesh.  This is the adrodginous base from which the males and females will come.  So far 2338 polys.

Hi Patorak,

Although I don't do commercial renders, I do some commercial work - clothing for Poser figures. I'm new at being a merchant, but business seems pretty good right now.

Would making commercial outfits for Plain Jane be OK? I'd split the profits 50-50 with you.
If you're OK with commercial addons, I'd love to have a copy of Plain Jane.

Sounds great!  No need to split the profits,  just make a small donation here.  http://www.ucp.org/  Pm me with your e mail address.

Cheers

I forget the site I found it at,  but it was a combination of 500 different heads.  Here's an update on Jane.  The belly button is restored.  I've added an innie, outie,  and 2 shape morphs.  I'm moving on to the hands.  I've got to restore the cuticles.

The cuticles are done.  Now to restore the mouth.  BTW Thank you to all the vets out there.

Thats the link where the heads come from : www.beautycheck.de. The composites have been made by Martin Gründl and are copyrighted. You should ask him if you wanna use them as textures.

The inner mouth section I allmost forgot : I think it is better to make it a part of the the head group like Victoria 3 ,not a seperate group as in v4 .Let's see what others think about that.

I think I'd better stick with 3dsk then.

My opinion,  the separate mouth group is more for Carrara than Poser.

i figured that making a new figure was complicated but had no idea. glad you have the patience.
