Hi,

I was thinking of getting one of these :-

http://www.3dconnexion.com/3dmouse/spacenavigator.php

Does anyone know if it can be used in Vue 6 Infinite or Hexagon 2.5?

Thanks
Jon

Not in Vue. Jon, I borrowed one of these things from my son and tried it out in my modelling programs. Concluded that it was a waste of time after a couple of weeks. Programmed all the 9 buttons on my Logitec mouse after that and it is waaaaaay better. Just one woman's experience.

Ah cool, thanks for the info :)

I was going to shell out for one on the off chance it would work but will look elsewhere I learn how to program my mouse properly :)

Thanks
Jon

Personally, I like the space navigator, but it does not work in lots of apps. Fortunately, it does work -- and quite well -- in the two apps I use the most, and as I said, I like it. But then again, I wasn't looking for a keyboard replacement (and thus, little need for programmable buttons).

And, in the interest of full disclosure, I paid only about $2 for it (most likely another reason I like it).

Just one man's experience.

This is good info, donquixote. Would you mind sharing with me which two apps you use it for? I am always looking for improvements, and perhaps should try this again.

Poser and Maya.

I hear it is very nice in Photoshop as well but have not tried it yet.

Er, wait a minute. That may actually be one of the more advanced models I heard was nice in Photoshop. I can't recall right now ...

I considered the pilot, but decided to try the navigator first as the pilot is relatively more expensive. Now I'm not sure I even want the pilot as I've never been too big on programmable buttons ... but maybe ... one of these days.

Would be interested, though -- if you care to share -- in hearing more about your experience, i.e., what took getting used to, how you use the buttons, etc.

Got mine for Maya but love it with Premiere. I use it with my left hand which takes getting used to for some folks but used it a lot until I got my shuttle pro. Still have it on another system.
