Does anyone know when Poser 5 is coming out?

No official word on it. I would guess we're still a few months or more away from hearing anything from CL on it.

Judging by how busy CL have been with getting Pro Pack out and then getting it fixed, chasing down warez and generally making their presence felt, I doubt they've had a lot of time to work on Poser5. There is an "official" wish list somewhere - the Curious site or somewhere else, I'm not sure. So it's in the works, but don't hold your breath. If they completely rebuild the proggy like some people would like don't expect to see it before late next year. If however they "upgrade" it using the existing program and engine then end of summer, maybe Christmas - if we're lucky. But as JKeller says, CL aren't saying anything, so, no rumours means pretty much "nothing happening yet". :)

the link is... guess what! at the top of this page. If they are taking wishes, it's a sure sign that they haven't started. For now I'm happy with the propack.

I hope they include a collision-detection option with it this time.

I hope we all have 1500+ bucks if they do..... Scarab<-not really all that computer savvy, but knows what things cost.....

I just hope they do not have a "block" on Poser5, where you can only download it like 3 times. Programs become corrupt and people have Computer crashes, and buy new computers, etc., We have had to install poser 4 more times then I care to count. So if the poser5 cd has a block (limiting downloads to say 3), I for one will be very saddened and probably have to pass on purchasing it.

  1. Collision Detection - YES! Glad someone else noticed this. And no, they cant have $1500, they can learn to program. Doom does it. It would run slower. 2) This aint a problem because they should not release Poser 5 until they have got the bugs out and rewritten it totally, ideally in machine code like UnrealTournament. But the slowness - by the time they have it working properly we all have PCs 10 times as fast as now. 3) Download? From the CD? I don't know what you mean but it sounds like theres a forum that I havent seen where this is discussed. They better not limit the CD installs, because as policy I like to reinstall ALL my software, starting with Windows, because Windows is so bad at getting messed up I need to. And I'll use P5 for more than 18 months and when I buy it I'm paying for more than use of it for 18 months.

Poser 5 is in the initial development stages. Beyond that, I am not at liberty to discuss it. :-) Anthony Curious Labs

Anthony, I'll give you five hundred billion dollars to tell us all about it.
