The artistic challenge will be open to all 2D and 3D artists using any 2D and or 3D image editor they choose to create their final image. The theme for this contest will be, "Atlantis". Artists are expected to incorporate this theme into their submission and the interpretation of this theme is completely to the discretion of the artist (keep in mind these images are being judged however). This contest begins June 06, 2001 and the deadline for entry is 12:00am EST, July 1st, 2001. The winner(s) for this contest shall be announced on July 6th, 2001. Sorry, but the phrase 'create their final image' seems to imply the folks that enter the contest can expect a less then full life-time. ;->

What I don't understand about these contests is that they offer, as the prize, the very software needed to make the images. What's the point?

The winner of Altered.Image's last contest was with an altered photograh by Coby Cyr titled, "Not Deep Enough" proving that a truly diverse and accomplished artist can make a powerful image using what little they have at their disposal...art is not in the program or the brush or locked somewhere within the canvas, it is within the artist...well, most artists.
