And with texture....which of course is not going to be the final texture. Still looking for the right one.

Is this still only one per person entry or can we enter more than one? And if so how do we do that?

After this challenge is over I'd very much like to see some or all of these fantastic works turn up in my other area of responsibility..Free Stuff*...please*...and thanks very much. I will remind y'all of this request at the end of the challenge so be warned....I am tenacious.. ...

Almost getting to completion of the basic tower. Now I need to add the details. The arch windows were made with the same neg object I used for the door hole, but I added a box at the bottom to elongate it.

bobbystahr ( ) posted Sat, 07 June 2008 at 9:01 AM

Why oh why couldn't this challenge have happened in the shitty weather season when I can not go out side and have tons of time to model....with the sun, I am drawn out of doors and can't seem to get more then my Official Duties done before I'm back out side mucking around in the garden...LOL.....but do keep the WIP's coming....I learn something from each and every one of them.. ...

Now complete with elaborate trim. These were made using terrains, and a cutout of the original shape from a photograph. The same with the statue and half broken statue of the real tower. Of course there is a little deviance from the real life tower, as I like to change the design slightly where it might have looked ugly. But thats just my opinion. Just a few more finishing touches to make, and of course the texture which I hope will be quite close to the original.

Ok, here it is. complete with textures. I combined the basic foliage MAT which has 'see through' areas and adjusted it to look like plaster, with a stone brick texture from a photograph. Now all I need is to build a 'tor' to put it on. If anyone has question on how I created certain parts, if I haven't already covered them, i'd be happy to explain.

I am working with this image of "La Torre del Oro" wich is at Sevilla

I made first one module of the lower part

jrcejaspulido ( ) posted Sat, 07 June 2008 at 5:37 PM

Then replicate-rotate that module, and add other details to complete the lower part of the tower

In the same way I did the upper part of the tower

And then the final dome.

This is the result of joining them all. I have use textures from cgtextures, slightly modified to match the real tower.

I am working now on the environment.

Very impressive work, you seem to have captured it very nicely indeed. And, it's nice to see anothers WIP.

jrcejaspulido ( ) posted Sat, 07 June 2008 at 6:18 PM

Thanks dhama, it seems that we will have some new towers and structures to play with at the end of the challenge, if we upload them at freestuff like bobbystahr sugested.

Fantastic tower mate...I think, maybe time to stick it in a scene and render for the challenge...I'm impressed with the process and the product... ...

Awesome work...this has the makings of a very impressive challenge. I think when all this is done, we're going to collectively blow a few minds here at R'osity, about Bryce's capabilities...awesome work all...If we're judgeing on this[I forget now what the rules on this one said] it's going to I think, be the toughest one of all.. ...

Ok, rendered a scene for the tower, but where do I upload it, the entry page is no longer showing the upload part.... I assume one can enter more than once as I read somewhere else, has this changed?

Here is the finished scene. Anyone interested in a little background to the subject of this scene, you'll find a lot of info here:

LOL, no. The name comes from my music name Bluedhama... if you do a search you'll find it... some music I created long ago. Feel free to download and listen to it while you work... it's very meditative.

WIP.......just ran into a creative brick wall, still have plenty-o-time.

Components weren't very heavy, though a vertically placed volumetric skyplane with IBL lighting almost put this one out of comission.

ICM: that looks great and very creative.

This time it will be even more difficult to vote only for three, and still waiting for more entries like yours or rj001´s work
