Subject: I need free snow-covered props.

DarthJ ( ) posted Thu, 12 June 2008 at 6:47 PM · edited Mon, 20 January 2025 at 3:11 AM

As the title says, anything covered in snow : fences, buildings, signs, trees, vehicles .... Poser, 3ds, lwo, obj ... format, anything goes but free.
What I don't need is a snowground prop (found one), typical Christmas stuff (Santa...) and/or toon stuff (except if it can be used as a realistic prop).
Any ideas ?

Sorry, but the only free snow covered anything that I know of is at "the3dZone", a Toon Lake. It's basically a snowscape, lake and a sign.

These might help to some extent.

A few 'snowblobs' to cover rectangular things, round things, or roofs.
I made them several years ago, so I don't remember exactly what's in the ZIP....

There is a sliced ham, rectangular snow, roof snow, and round snow :)

Yikes.  Obviously I didn't know what was in the ZIP to begin with,
let alone remember it now!

Probably built the snow pieces, then slapped them into C:runtime for
zipping, without checking to see if anything else was already there.

LOL I was kind of wondering what a sliced ham had to do with snow!

Even the ham could be useful though I'll try the snowprops first.
I knew this was going to be difficult, a lot of snow freebies are part of seasonal Christmas freebies after which they errr melt like snow.

Can't tell too much about it now but you'll get a link to the result once I find the needed freebies.

If you can use object format, I've got a general store & a church that might work.. .
The store has a seam in the roof  that I never got around to fixing so it will need a little postwork..

Importing obj in Poser is not a problem. Though these buildings do not exactly match the geographical location of my project they could be used and it would conclude my search for snow freebies.
I see you put up a new freebie every day, are these 2 to be expected soon ?

Acadia ( ) posted Fri, 13 June 2008 at 1:11 PM

Oh! Those buildings are great! I'd love them. What a great Christmas card they would make!

Attached Link: Church & General Store Freebies

I was hoping to do a whole Christmas village when when I started these but with one thing & another this is all that got finished.  The background isn't included but there is some snowy terrain with store.  The church doesn't fit in it but if you fiddle with it a little it doesn't look too bad..   It's been awhile since I did these but I think you can hide all the Christmasy decoration but the church wreaths. They may be drawn on.  Don't remember if I put a plain window textures in or not.  I can do one if I didn't.  Just let me know.  These are apt to be up for longer then a day..  I don't get things changed around as often as I should.

Well, if I get some help, soon everything can be snow covered.

What about checking around for all the Xmas holiday giveaways. There were many that had snow coverings. Try here and at RDNA and possibly at DAZ. I don't know if links are still available but I have seen archived stuff from Holidays past. but it won't hurt to HUNT!  ")
Good Luck!

Please read the other thread. Give me a day, and I will finish this off and release it as a freebie, and any figure can then be converted to a snow covered figure. This is a picture of a building as you load it from the Poser library.

Then all you do is go to "File>Run python script>addSnow" and everything in the scene, all the materials, are covered with snow.

I am just seeing if there is a way to control the amount of snow automatically, instead of manually, and at the moment it only works on figures, not props yet.

In the other thread is a download of a early working version, you can play with that so long, and we will improve it as we go along.
