Jodrell Bank, Cheshire, England - a radio telescope, I believe. Let me see what you can do with it.

have just downloaded the file, maybe have a little play with it in a bit..... i've always wondered as a relative newcomer to the site... what does DITI stand for exactly?

I asked that very same question recently...apparently it means "Do It To It". Also the first to reply with an image sets up the next one on the following Monday.

right, thanks for the info... a little hesitant to do this (shock horror, the responsibility!) but whatever here goes..... not really sure what the game is here - are we allowed basically to do ANYTHING to the file, like bringing in other photos to merge it with etc? I went for a kind of 'don't alter it too much' approach as I wasn't sure.... here's my first post on any 'DITI' thread, hope I've got the right idea!

it = anything - meaning you could superimpose godzilla in there crushing it with his fist... or something. Whatever takes your fancy.  A good thread for exploring processing techniques.

Meowgli,  Rich (Inshaala) said it like it is..do whatever comes to mind, manipulation, painting, anything.  The exception is when the thread starter specifically asks for improvement and how to make the image better..then I stick with trying to make the original as fine a photo as I can. Otherwise, it is truly...go for it.

Here's one from me. On my hols next week, with Mrs D. (aka thelamb) and the kids. Meowgli is on the next DITI. Maybe I'll bump into you (Meowgli) on the beach at Wormit or St Andrews.

inshaala ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2008 at 2:30 PM

hehe - if you do go to the beach in st andrews early morning look out for the ginger/strawberry blone (possibly drunk from the night before) guy with a camera probably wearing a baseball cap.  Just yell out "MEOW" and he'll probably turn around... failing that i think "snarf" would work as well ;-)

I'm actually up in st andrews on the thursday through to the saturday if you are around... going to my fourth grad ball in a row - this time as the 'tog rather than drunken student! :)

I'll be heading North this Saturday and staying through to the following Sunday. I'll probably take the A702 (I think???, it's single carriageway, but usually quiet and the route's a bit more scenic) from borders to Edinburgh ring road then onto the motorway to Perth, etc. I hate travelling on the dual carriageway towards Glasgow, not to mention the roadworks, I always end up in the wrong lane and end up heading towards Glasgow city centre whilst gazing across conrete barriers and saying to myself I should have been in that other lane. Anyway, if you see a man struggling to get a shot on a Sony Alpha A200, with a wife and two kids glowering and foot tapping in the background...that'll be me! Enjoy the ball, if I don't bump into you while your up in St Andrews. excuse my ignorance...but what's a "'tog"?

(Wonders how Eddie got on in Strontian?)

all of meow, snarf, and possibly 'llama' would get my attention...don't ask..! micheal - rich and i will both be in St Andrews with free time on the thursday evening and friday during the day, don't know if it would fit with your plans/ whether the weather will be any good for it but we'll probably meet up and have a wander round with cameras sometime on the friday... if you'd be interested in joining us you'd be welcome just get in touch... neither of us will have to be keeping a family entertained at the same time though so if it fits, great, let us know, if not, thought i'd offer anyway as you were on your way through - are you from Dundee originally?

i'll have to get digging through my collection for something interesting for next week, i'll do my best to remember but please anyone sitemail me if it looks like i've forgotten! i'll save rich the time answering and tell you that a 'tog' is really just shorthand for phoTOGrapher ;) oh, and nice post with the alien by the way, i'll try and get a bit more creative on this file when i get a chance..

Here's a straight "improvement" version.  (Of course improvement is in the eye of the beholder!)

And here's more of an abstract.

Thanks!  This was a fun one!  :)

That's fabulous, bentchick!  I saw the face, but was more tempted to hide it than bring it out.  I love what you did with this!  :)
