Anyone else have this experience? : When you're injured badly , you feel like C*ap and like your life is over so you dont do anything, but just spend time searching for things about your injury in the web.

I injured my knee, went to the orthopedic already ...going to physical therapy soon, but I dont even know if i wil ever be healthy again. And i was healthy and athletic just before this happened.

Now, cant do any aerobic activity so i will gain weight if i dont start creating a workout program that i can do laying on the ground and using only my upper body.

Well, i'm kind of getting used to not being able to walk but i need to get better in order to start feeling good enough and happy enough to use Poser.

guess the project that i had started before this will have to take a 1, 2,or 3 year break:

Don't let it get to you mate. Everyone has problems, people just deal with them in different ways. If you are to be temporarily disabled just try to make the most of what you can do. Maybe use your stress/depression in your artwork, it's worked for me.
On the disability issue, my best friend has MS & she's in a wheelchair, has been for many years. She's the happiest person I know, I feel quilty sometimes when I'm down as I know things could be worse.
Chin up.

Don't get down. If you want to do aerobics, do a web search for wheelchair aerobics. I know Richard Simmons has one. I'm sure there would probably be others too. Even if you aren't using a wheelchair , a regular chair would probably work. In the mean time do some poser, or another hobby. Don't just sit and dwell on you injury. It will only make you feel worse.

Ditto RedPhantom.  Poser is an excellent way to distract from illness and injury
of the body and soul.

Lots of us are using art and modelling as a form of therapy.

Putting Poser aside is exactly the wrong thing to do at this point!

Yep, Got knocked off a scafold and toasted my back, that's what got me started. Bought my first computer and the cat jumped on the keyboard the day  got internet and a piece of artwork poped up with a reference to R'sity. Got poser to help keep my mind off of the pain. It helped.

Blew my knee out, again, this time playing football, instead of hockey, last game of the season. Ended up spending a lot of time doing CG to keep my mind off of it.

Now the heart and stroke thing, Lost the feeling in half my left hand. I'm relearning to play my guitar left handed and still doing the CG.

Moral? Do things that keeps you happy and your mind off the bad stuff. There are lots of programs for workouts during rehab from injuries. All the athletes I have known have had some form of injury and still managed to stay pretty fit.

all the best.

I slipped a disc in my lower back two months ago and for a couple of weeks I was completely unable to sit in a chair for more than 2 seconds without screaming in agony. It felt like all the muscles in my hip, buttock, hamstring, knee, calf and ankle had been ripped out and shredded. I'm only just getting back to being able to sit still long enough to create anything.

I can't run, cycle, do any form of aerobics and any excercise I do could put me back flat on my back screaming again. If it goes out again I'll be in hospital so I'm more worried about that than weight gain lol. I just eat less and try to walk a bit more, I try to walk at a fast pace until the pins and needles start in my foot then I slow down until it stops, then speed up again... lol

I can identify with you tebop.   Knee injuries are horrid.   What did you do to your knee?  Did they give you brace? Wearing one of those is a PITA. It never stays where it should.
Did you happen to find the kneegeeks forum in your search?  Some very scary stories there but also lots of help & support..

And from what I've read, water aerobics are very good therapy for knees tho' don't do it without your OS's consent..
I've been there/ done that so if  you need someone to talk/cry/complain too..  Site mail me..

Also knee injury, my surgeon told me no stress on the knee, no running period. I use isometrics and it helps. When I had surgery and was on crutches my friends told me oh that will slow down your coffee consumption....not at all just used a thermos to get it to the living room...lol
Hang in there. They have stuff now you wouldn't believe. I know it's tough not being able to just get up and do what you used to do, but you will find ways to deal with it. And hopefully it's not as bad as you think.
Don't let the pain and frustration get you down, and try to dwell on the good stories, not so much the bad ones. Just learn about it and be aware of what they are suggesting, and take that to your doc.
Water arobics are great, and I was surprised when my doc told me I could use my stationary bike. Be careful not to injure your good knee protecting the bad one. In other words, don't keep trying to do all you were able to do before your injury until you heal up.

I had a very bad knee injury. Could hardly walk or put any weight on it. The problem is the body is constantly trying to fight the inflammation which is very debilitating. I found an herbal combination which is very effective that you can purchase at your health food store. 1) "Nutri-Flex" by Naka (around $25.00) 2) "Original Silicea Balsam" by hubner  (around $25.00) 3) "BF and C" by Naturway herbs (around $10.00)

The "Nutri-Flex" is endorsed by hockey player Wendel Clark. It is the official joint care supplement for the hockey hall of fame and it truly works. It actually reduces the inflammation and pain really fast. Then it restores the joint lubricant and actually rebuilds the bone cartilage. It works for joint injuries and arthritis. My health food store gave me a free trial bottle and I was so impressed at how it works I purchased it.

The  "Original Silicea Balsam" is what binds all of the bone properties together. This product is in liquid so it works very fast.

"BF and C" stands for bone, flesh and cartilage. It is one of the only products that rebuild all of those properties. It has been around for a long time and is quite powerful.

I found this combination to be very effective. It is important to reduce that inflammation because it affects our brain and mental attitude.
I have studied and taught natural healing and herbs for many years. All of these products are natural and do not interfere with pharmaceutical medications.
I have included the link to the  "Nutri-Flex" for you.
Best of luck.

Thanks  all, for your advice/help.

Raven, what did i do? Well, i was just on break( at work) and i decided to do a kick(karate kick). That's it.  I didnt fall, but something got hurt i guess. although at the time, all i felt was alittle pain. I had no swelling, no discoloration, not even much pain so it's kind of weird. i've never had any visible swelling since i had that injury and it's been 2 weeks now. I also never had much pain.

, what i've having now is strange ligament knots, so i haven't been able to walk. However, i think i'm getting better because i'm getting less knots and i can walk  now and avoid knots by walking in slow motion.

I also had this thing where everytime i get in the shower, i'd get knots when lifting the knee slightly so these days i've been scared of entering the shower. but today surprisingly, i didn't get knots when i lifted my knee slowly. So maybe there's some healing going on here. in fact i've started to walk with less or no knots starting yesterday. I've been taking care of the knee so i gues s that's helping too.

Ortho checked me and said my knee is stable, did tests and manual tests and i didnt have much of a problem or pain. Although it seems to happen that whenever i go to drs, the symptoms do not come up.

I have this weird mind because i get an impulse to do something  and i always do it before thinkking. That's how i also hurt many other body parts.

And it seems i have injuries every d*** year. It doesn't stop. i can go year by year and tell you of major injuries i've had since i was 6.  I dont want to get injuries but it happens cause  i guess im stupid.

By the way Kneegeeks.....seems that site is all against me or something. Everyone gets responses except me. For some strange reason that happens in other healthboards too, everyone gets responses and my response count remains at ZERO forever.

lululee, thanks for the advice. I am taking some supplements too.

Four summers ago I was run over on a freeway by a transport truck. Snapped my spine. Was told I would never walk again.

I walk now, but don't run. I gained weight and have to be very careful what kind of exercise I do. I lost my job at the time, and when into massive debt.

Today, I work as a Senior Flash Developer for one of the largest advertising agencies in North America. They know the day will come when I can no longer walk, and are already making the building more accessible.

I am quickly getting out of debt, own a 2000 sq ft house, and am thankful for the blessed life I have.

Just remember, what doesn't kill you has made a tactical error.

Remember that SEX can be aerobic exercise . You work out the details :)

If you arent as active then cut your calorie intake a little to compensate. Any activity that requires some thought will help you take your mind off your problems, so you may still do some scene setups , even if you dont feel like finishing them all.

I went through therapy for a stroke , and you wonder if you are going to get any use of the limb back , but when you get to a certain point it starts coming back faster.

tebop, sorry to hear of your injury.  I hope that you get good treatment and that you recover soon.

if no knee tendons  were damaged, continue to describe the symptoms to your doctor until said
individual is able to provide an useful diagnosis.  use different terms to describe the condition, if
at first you don't succeed.  be as patient and diplomatic as possible with the doctor.
