Wrong forum! This is the forum for poser related topics not for D/S stuff.

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

Still nice to get a heads up on it. Also shouldn't be running ads for a product at another store but they let you get away with it    8^)

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2008 at 8:25 AM

Not only that it is also for Poser, so it IS in the right forum.

bantha ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2008 at 8:43 AM

The installer can install it as a plugin or as standalone. So it should be able to use the thing in Poser too.

This now gives me a reason to try out the program.  I've been looking at it a while and intrigued by the results people were getting.

Says right on the ad when you download it that it's for Poser too.

Very unimpressed with the basic, I get better results from manually making the morphs in 3dMax!

I downloaded and installed this as standalone so I could try it out with Poser. Everytime I run it, I get asked for a serial. Grrr...

Molina00 ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2008 at 2:03 PM

From what I understand from the thread at in the DAZ forums, the basic version will only work as a plug-in for DAZ.  You have to have the pro version to use it as a stand alone program.

I tried it out, and I personally am not very impressed.  I had always wanted to give this program a try and see what it could do, but the basic version is so skimpy on features I can't get much of a feel for it.  At least not near enough to put down $40+ for the pro version.

Marque ( ) posted Wed, 18 June 2008 at 2:27 PM

The pro version isn't that great either, I returned mine for a refund.

Hmmm.

Actually, you can also use FS 3.7 in the standalone fashion, in which case it works directly with Poser without needing to go through DAZ Studio.
(Just a modest note - anything else would incur the wrath of the ever vigilant moderators or ban me altogether from Rendo)

But you cannot use this FREE version stand-alone, the thread is about the free version and that one is a plugin for D/S only.

ok...well, it's only takin' up space on the hard drive for now. Is this just so you can make morphs in Daz? btw...saw a thread on it over in the freepository. Do you need Daz 2.2 to run it?

I believe you will need the new 2.2.2.17 beta release to make the FS plugin work.  Here is the link to the thread about the beta version: http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=87751

So, if it's at 3.7, where are the updates for those that have bought Pro before?

All updates are FREE for FS 3.1 Pro and FS 3.5 users (you can use the same key as before).
We currently released a DAZ Studio plugin, which will be followed by the standalone version within days.
You will be able to download the free app at www.abalonellc.com or maybe even here at Rendo.

I played with it a little last night.  I was able to utilize the three point system in stand alone mode (once I realized it only worked with the internal M3 and V4) and exported the resulting wavefront object file.  Unfortunately, I could not load that file in as a morph target for an M3 Head in Poser.  I tried several times to do it by loading a head object into Faceshop and realized that, by doing that, I had to add all the points.  At this point, one or more of the points didn't take...what I mean by that is that I clicked on where the point was supposed to be (like the corner of the mouth) but the program just skipped that point altogether.  The next thing I knew, the whole program kept shutting down.  I got frustrated and put it away for another time.

The thing is...I actually liked the program from the beginning.  I haven't been able to actually get a morph that looks like whomever's picture I've used, but I have been able to make some characters that do look a bit more realistic.  It always takes a lot of work (and a lot of cussing along the way).  I thought this upgrade would make it a bit simpler.  I'll try it again on another night when I'm more motivated.

One thing about Studio that I absolutely hate is that you have to update your plugins every time they update Studio. Getting real old!

Unfortunately you can't use Basic morphs to load directly into Poser. The reason is this:
In Poser, you can load a morph to the mesh "head" but not with eyes.
FaceShop Pro, used as a standalone will import meshes from Poser (head without eyes) and these morphs can be used wit Poser.
If you want to learn about the process, visit www.abalonellc.com and watch the demo movie about Importing to Poser.

No, the free update just became available at http://www.abalonellc.com/free-upgrade-for-existing-pro-users.html

Pls. download Download FREE Upgrade from Pro to FS 3.7
Your FS 3.5 key should work with it (in fact will probably not ask for a key, since it remembers your old key).
