Subject: Change in the TOS

nyguy ( ) posted Thu, 19 June 2008 at 10:31 AM · edited Sun, 19 January 2025 at 2:23 AM

I recommend a change in the TOS. I feel that the TOS is too weak in some parts: Example

  • Personal attacks. This includes but is not limited to, destructive, abusive, defamatory communications in any form, and retaliatory attacks from personal attacks. If you need assistance, please communicate with someone from our Renderosity Team.
  • Destructive commentary/communications made with the intent to disrupt or attack (Trolling). This applies to any communications within this community, whether in the forums, art galleries, graffiti wall, chat, blogs, sitemail or article opinions

I think these need to be broaden more and also enforced more by MODs.
I feel that a personal attack/destructive comment  should include any post that are made that does not include any constructive criticism or that offending poster's post make the original poster feel offended or attacked.

What is it that you think isn't covered by the current TOS ?

Examples would be useful so that some discussion can take place, especially for the staff so that they stand a chance of being able to address your concerns.

Okay example one:
One from a current thread
"Having looked at some of your past posts, I will say thanks but. No thanks but I wish you luck with your testers"
What does looking at my past post have to do with Beta testing? To me this is an attack against me and what did the mod do Not a thing!

To my mind this doesn't need a change to the TOS.
Coming relatively soon after you posted about the unreliability of beta testers, it's not that surprising that someone would refer (albeit obliquely) to this when replying.

Have you contacted the Poser mod(s) to register a complaint ?
If you have, and your not happy with their decision, you can always contact one of the admins to see if they have a different view.

I have and nothing was done they said it was not against the TOS. I have also emailed admin@renderosity.com about this and it was suggested by someone that I post this here.

This is not the forum to lodge a complaint. The staff discussed the above post, and it was determined that it was not a personal attack, and therefore not a TOS violation.

You may make suggestions in this forum, and they will be added to the list, but please do not use this forum for complaints.

I am not using this to post a complaint. I have already done that and I still disagree with the results!
All I am is saying that maybe the tos does not go far enough and should be refined better. I am sorry to say that this would not happen in other forums on other sites.

You need to suggest some alternative or additional wording.
Just saying that "this" (for some vague value of "this") must be against the TOS, doesn't really help things along.
Without a concrete suggestion of how things should change, even "I would like to be against the TOS for people to post that they aren't interested in the topic of thread" would do the trick.

Similar  "I wouldn't ...",  "I don't want to ...", "I won't ...", or "I'm not ..." posts appear all the time at DAZ (usually with spurious logic as to why).
