Subject: Save Poser Movies to Hard drive

jcrous ( ) posted Sun, 22 June 2008 at 8:06 AM · edited Tue, 04 February 2025 at 11:16 AM

Hi,
I want to save Poser Flash movie tutorials to my hard drive to peruse them at leisure, over and over while I follow the instructions, until I succeed. Later I can revisit them. How?

I have tried several utilities and none of them work.
Some claim you can download directly and all I have tried save the file as +/- 60kb in size (how can an hour long video and a second video of same size?). Nothing will open these files.

Other utilities claim to save or recall from cache, but then I mus play the whole thing through and even then they don't work.

Is there a reliable utility available somewhere that can download a flash movie to your hard drive as you download anything else?

Regards
Johan

If you're using the Firefox browser, there is a free "Download Helper" add-on that
works nicely.   Alternatively, you can usually locate the file in Firefox's Cache
and copy it to another folder with FLV extension added.

Some streaming players don't use the cache at all.  For these, you'll need a
more expensive helper.  I use "Replay Media Catcher" from Applian.com.

I could be mistaken but I believe Flash animations are copy protected.  Used to be one could fish them out of the Internet Cache but that doesn't always work any more.  I do know PhilC writes tutorials for his products and includes the animations on his product CD-ROMs.

Rather than view the file you might try RIGHT clicking the Internet link and choose Save File to Disk ...

You could also loop your display through a VCR or screen caputure device and make a copy that way.

Maybe someone who knows the format better can help you.

Best Wishes,

download helper doesnt always work but its worth trying . I try it as soon as the flash starts to play .
