Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 11 12:18 am)
There are three solutions that I can think of:-- Build the dress with hierarchy to allow seated poses as above.
Or a combination of the above. Whichever way I doubt if its possible, in practical terms, to design a mesh that will be perfect in every pose.

Depends what you want... Nerd's sit down skirt is a modern short style for free download (see link). This gets round the problem by not conforming - you have to pose it separately which can be difficult in some poses. Alternatively, try sergemarck's period dresses at Poser Fashion - some of these have sit down morphs. http://poserworld.com/PoserFashions/default.htm I think some of Jim Burton's products have a separate seated version of the skirt. http://digitaldreams.bbay.com/There are actually two problems here, both having to do with the way Poser has to have parts joined- you can't ever have shins in mesh, and you have to have a strip of hip between the thighs all the way down the skirt. I think it is just about possable to have a short (above the knee) skirt that the figure can sit in, as long as she doesn't try to cros her legs (like any real woman actually would in a short skirt!), using a combination of the thighs and JCM to pull the mesh where Poser can't. Long skirts are a lot tougher though, I don't know of any combination that works without a lot of fiddling.

The Sit Skirt was my first attempt at solving this problem. Many of us have taken a shot at it. Thus far my Nimue skirts are probably the best sitting skirt available. And they still require same manual posing. They use EMC (Extended Morph Control) and a hidden "third leg" to get a sitting pose. The reason there aren't any free EMC skirts is because of the huge amount of work required to get one working. I have a tutorial on EMC if you would like to dive in.This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible. Everybody knows the problem, that the skirt or dresses for female characters flap up. Is there some known way to correct this once the figure is sitting? I know there is one skirt that does not flap up for download, but maybe someone figured out a ways for the other clothes too? Please help me, the girls are so tired and want to sit down :-) TILL
