Subject: saving cloth animation

i think i already asked this question in one thread but i can not find it.
so here it goes: can we save cloth dynamics or cloth animation in poser?
i had a flag animation. and i saved my file ''save as'' . the next day when i opened it the cloth dynamics was still there. and i was happy because the animation is very complex and it took 1 hour to calculate.

now i again opened the file and the cloth is not moving anymore. so i need to again calculate everything? i mean this is really stupid. why can we not save it?

The cloth dynamics are saved in a separate file, with a name like "DocumentName_Sim_1_ClothName.dyn". As you can see, Poser derives the name from the name of your PZ3, the simulation name, and the name of the cloth item. If you move the PZ3 and not the DYN file, or if you rename it, the two will lose their association and you'll have to recalculate.

i changed nothing. i didnt change the name and i didnt move it.

but i noticed that soemtimes it is saved and sometimes it is not.

In your last frame, select the dynamic clothing and in the menu bar klick object -> spawn morph target. This will create a morph of the simulation in the prop (I always call the morph "after_sim"). If you save your scene, it will stay there....or you can save the cloth object as a new prop with the morph in it and load it in a blank scene with only one frame and the correct pose of the main figure.

It should save the simulation when you do 'save' or 'save as'. I never had problems on p6 but on p7 it frequently forgets all about the simulation as soon as I save and sometimes when I do a render.
It may be a Mac specific bug.
I now use 'spawn morph' as facehugger does. It has an advantage of being able to continue to the simulation from the end of the previous one if you wish too.
Another strategy is to write the cloth out as a '.obj' file and read it back in.

you can automate the morph targets by following this link
