Subject: V4.2 Problem-Question

Philywebrider ( ) posted Thu, 03 July 2008 at 5:03 AM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 7:01 PM

I have
V4.2 Base,
V4.2 Morphs,
V4.2 Muscle Morphs Maps-Part 1,
V4.2 Muscle Morphs Maps Part 2,
V4.2 Muscle maps part-2,
V4.2 Developer Kit Morphs

I'm a little confused. I have v4.0, and V4.1 currently in my Poser4 Runtime. I understand I need to uninstall V4.0 and V4.1 before installing V4.2.  I m learning Poser7. Do I still erase V4.0 and V4.1 in the Poser4 runtime if I want to install V4.2 in the Poser7 Runtime?

Do I uninstall all the packages?

Will Items purchased for V4.0 and V4.1 work with V4.2?

I saw a character-texture that says it requires M+++. I couldn't find an ything at daz that says M+++. Any body know what M+++ is?

Victoria_Lee ( ) posted Thu, 03 July 2008 at 7:35 AM

M++ is just shorthand for the V4 Morphs ++

"Do I still erase V4.0 and V4.1 in the Poser4 runtime "

I do hope you mean the Poser 7 Runtime, because V4 (and 4.1 and 4.2) don't work, or at least aren't supposed to work, in anything prior to Poser 5, and she's got big problems there when it comes to loading.

Can I ask why you have her loaded into Poser 4?

As for uninstalling V4 and V4.1, when you install V4.2 the installer will take care of all that.

The mesh for V4 - V4.1 and V4.2 is the same.  There are a couple of things that were added to 4.2 but won't affect anything you purchased for V4.0.

You do not need to uninstall your V4's if you are installing V4.2 into another version of poser that does not have any of the older V4s in it.

I've read about  many BIG problems people had if they installed V4.2 into a poser that already had V4 or V4.1 in it.

I just deleated  the old icons on my desktop and installed V4.2. in a different poser (V4.1 was in P5 and I installed V4.2 my new P6) and all worked fine. You should also do the "update V4.2 Base" inbetween installing V4.2 and each of the morph packs you have for her.

Nope I mean Poser 4.  I didn't get poser 7 until recently. V4.0 and  V4.1 loaded fine, but I had problems rendering...sometimes.

Actually it won't, as I said V4.0 and V4.1 are in the Poser4 runtime and I want to install V4.2 in the poser7 runtime.

Remember my question; *Do I still erase V4.0 and V4.1 in the Poser4 runtime if I want to install V4.2 in the Poser7 Runtime?
**
*I also purchased things like expressions, etc for 4.0, V4.1, will they still work? do I have to uninstall them from Poser4 and install in them Poser7 or can I load them from the Poser4 runtime?

update V4.2 Base ???

Victoria_Lee ( ) posted Thu, 03 July 2008 at 9:14 AM

You should be able to install them right into Poser 7 because it's a completely different folder.

You can just install V4.2 into the Poser 7 runtime and you won't have any problems since she's not dependent on the V4 or V4.1 files.

You can try loading the P4 runtime as an external to P7 and see if you can load from there.  I haven't used P4 since I got P5 and don't even have it loaded any more.  I do know that P7 will load from my old P6 and P5 runtimes just by loading them as externals so it should work with your P4 runtime as well.

If you don't know how to load an external runtime, send me an IM and I'll explain how it's done.  It's not hard but it works wonderfully since I use 25 different runtimes.  I can load the ones I need to use without having all of the other content loaded as well.  The only stuff I have loaded into my P7 runtime is my V4/A4 stuff because they require the Poser.exe file.

Quote - update V4.2 Base ???

When you run the V4.2 installer it will ask you to activate when it's installed.  Just say yes because I don't think she meant update but, rather, activate.

I am talking about the "update V4.2 base" icon that will appear on your desktop. I've seen it recommended and I did the  "update or (activate)" thing after installing each new morph pack I installed after installing V4.2.  Morphs++, creature, Aiko4 ect.
I certainly hope Daz will get M4 available without all the mess and confussion this V4 character has caused. Maybe it's taking so long for M4 because they plan on getting it right the first time. Like I said I can only hope.

I didn't take a chance, I deleted V4.0 and V4.1 from the Poser4 runtime. Then I installed V4.2 in the Poser7 runtime, (activated-updated ).

I now have a number of V4.0 and V4.1, (third party ) characters, textures, poses, etc still in the Poser4 runtime. Can I leave them there or do I have to delete them and reinstall them all to Poser7?.

V4.2 is set up different for adding morphs, etc...

I've been using the Poser4 runtime as an external runtime in Poser7.

You should be able to call all the third party products from the Poser 4 runtime.
