Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 18 2:22 am)
Try getting 3D World Magazine issue #106, first. The accompanying CD includes (among other things) Victoria 4 (I believe it's the basic version), and the Aiko 4 morph package, and all for free too.
If all you were wanting to do was "see" if V4 was worth the trouble, that'd be the most cost-effective way to go. That way, if it was something you deemed worth purchasing, you could spring for the head and body morph packs for the figure.
If you love V3 like I do, you may have a love/hate relationship with V4. Yes, there's significant improvements regarding bending & some great morphs, but you might have to work harder to get away from the ugly, obvious V4 look.
I must add that I really like the A4 morph.
There are threads here on how to install V4 as it's a slighty different process to V3.
I am happy with V4.2 she is another figure in my tool box. I think she has better expressions than V3 but I still love the old girl!
If you live in the U.S. it will be forth coming in Books-a-Million or Barnes and Noble book stores.
You will need Poser 6 or above to use it (which everyone but me has).
You may need a DVD player or a unit that reads DVD (again which everyone has but me). They have been intermixing CDs and DVDs since Issue 100. Jan
Quote - Doctor---where would I get that magazine?
Thanks guys.
Like Plutom said, the issue is due to show up on American shores in a week or two. You should be able to get it at your local Barnes and Noble bookstore, or at a magazine stand that will carry non-standard periodicals and the like. It shouldn't be all that hard to spot, either- it makes mention about the 3D open source movement in large block letters.
Other than that, you can get it online from 3D World as a back issue.
V4 is incredibly bendy and her expressions are better than V3's. She looks more feminine than V3 but for some reason all the characters I try to create look exactly like the default V4.
-Morbo will now introduce the candidates - Puny Human Number One,
Puny Human Number Two, and Morbo's good friend Richard Nixon.
-Life can be hilariously cruel
I never reply to threads, but in my opinion V4 ain't half the lady V3 is. I got V4 and despite trying to make her look good I think most of the time the results just don't pass muster. I wish some of the merchants would go back to making things for V3 rather than all jumping on the V4 bandwagon. They would get my money.
Of course this is just my opinion.
*Problem is, V3 has so many products already, that new products for her never really sell any longer, and since the V4 market hasn;t reached near the number of available products yet, there's still lots of room for growth.
*Yep and that's why DAZ is releasing the same limited amount of clothes for V4 in thousand variations. Makes one really wonder if there really is room for growth or if DAZ or the content creators that do create clothes for V4 have a huge tunnel vision they can't seem to escape.
V4 is only worth it if you like a barbie doll that always wears clothes that look pretty much the same then ones she wore before. I've tried V4, saw which direction she was heading and returned to V3 who has a huge collection and variety of clothes. Variety is the thing that lacks big time for V4 and that's why to me she's a completely waste of money. Add lack of quality to it and the failytale called V4 is complete.
Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

Personally I think you are half blind if you really believe that.
Well since you're affiliated to DAZ I expect you to turn a blind eye to what DAZ does once in a while ;-)

I'm not affiliated with anyone specifically.. I've had content for sale here, Daz, Poser Pros, and CP.
Unlike YOU I see no demons at any of those places, (Except some people who seem to always want to act like demons... hehee!)
This is yet another of your oh so many Daz rants, looking for any excuse to bash them, for legitimate reasons or not.
It gets really old. Find something new to entertain us, M'k ? ;)
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
Since I haven't bought anything for V4 after the first flush of wanting to give the model a chance I cannot say that I really believe that new items for V3 would not be profitable. I am pretty sure that I am not the only person who just happens to prefer V3. In fact, I can honestly say that once I saw the way the market was going I snapped up some V3 items before they went the way of the Dodo bird.
Again, it is just my opinion, but I do think merchants could still make money on quality products for V3.
**Trust me, a vendor can't make money on V3 anymore. Not really. A few sales here and there, but not enough to stop a 3 month old product from hitting clearance. I've read people saying they wish there were new ones for V3 and yet, hm...no one buys one that is released.
And characters for V4 can be just as hard to sell if you don't come out with something that takes her far from the standard V4 look.
Originality is the answer. And V3 has done it all already. V4 is getting there quickly. That's why I stick with my guys. Not near enough for them yet.

I have to admit, when V4 first came out, I thought I would never buy her.
Well....never say never....
I find myself gradually replacing V3 with V4 with a lot of stuff. The character textures coming out are greatly improving (Of all the V4 characters I have about 20-25% are from Rebelmommy alone and I have a lot of Val's and Rhiannons clothes).
Yes V3 has a BOAT LOAD of stuff, but I think vendors are creating great stuff for V4 now.
There is a learning curve for V4, as the geometries are different (ex V3 has a right and left buttock, V4 does not).
One thing to consider is, what genre you prefer (fairy, sci-fi, fantasy, gothic, etc), that might help you decide whether or not to take the leap.
Now, I still have a few V3 characters, because I have not found anything that matches what I need (Ex I use DAZ's sledmistress facial injections for a character or 2).
So the moral of the story, you will most likely have a mix/match with V3 and V4.

Hello All.
I am considering upgrading to V4. Are there any threads which show you how to use her? I'm sure a lot has been changed and I would like to know the tips and tricks to getting the best out of her improvements. This will also help me see if she's worth getting.
Thanks in advance
