Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 24 11:54 pm)
When I look at how much I actually use poser pro, $150 IS "mere".
Compare it with your latest DVD purchase.. Odds are, you spent between $10 US and $20 Us.. and you'll probably watch it 5 times in 5 years.. so you'll get 10 hours of entertainment for about $1.50 each.
And if you are like most of us here, you'l use poser pro at least an hour a day for a year or two... maybe more.
At $150, in one year's time, it'll cost about 40 cents an hour. If you use it two years, it'll cost you 20 cents an hour, far less then the cost per hour of that dvd I mentioned. And if you use it 3 years, it'll cost about a dime an hour.
Why people undervalue computers and software is beyond me. We justify $400 cell phones, $1500 big flatscreen tvs, $20 dvds, but when it comes to computers and software, even though we spend countless hours using them, everyone is unwilling to spend something on them for thier entertainment.
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
well, for me even $150 is not mere . Its being able to eat for a month :) I dont have a big tv , and I havent bought a dvd or cd in many years . I have bought a few songs via download for $1 each.
Garees point is valid though , if you look at a cost/time value.
Poser pro offers the ability to render and keep working and batch render a bunch of scenes. I believe there are a few python scripts for the batch render ability , and a hobby user may not want to spend that much for the render and work ability.
I would be very curious to see what will be offered for Poser 8, if there is a Poser 8.
Hee hee, Gareee, Izi doesn't justify any of those things! I don't have a TV, I have the cheapest pay-as-you-go mobile phone, I never buy (or rent) DVDs.
I think the only thing that could justify the cost would be to hear that Poser Pro is SOOO much better than Poser 7.
And to hear it from a Mac user, so I know it's stable on my platform of choice.
???
Oops, cross-posted with markschum.. thank you, that sounds like sense.

kett - if you are a registered P6 or P7 user (not P5 or lower) you should have received an upgrade email with a buy now link (either for the full Poser Pro or for the Base version) that takes you straight to the checkout counter with the stuff in your cart.
I wish my grocery shopping would work that way.
I'm still riding the tiger, so the 64-bit rendering is no use to me. Perhaps it's time to switch cats.

Any Mac OS X Poser Pro users out there? Hobbyists like me, not professional artists or animators.
It seems we can upgrade to Poser Pro for a 'mere' $200 (PC and Mac, but I'm particularly interested in the experiences of Mac users).
Do you Poser Pro users think it's worth the upgrade? I know it's difficult to answer for others on the question of whether it's 'worth it', but what is your experience? Would you go back to Poser 7 and get your dosh back, if you could?
I'm not expecting answers, just opinions... thanks!
