Subject: searching wet drops Python script

shuy ( ) posted Mon, 07 July 2008 at 2:06 PM · edited Sun, 17 November 2024 at 1:45 AM

Couple months ago I've found (via google I think) page with python scripts.
As I remember one of them gave effect  of water drops on the skin. I did not downloaded it. Later I had system crash and format happend :) so I cannot find this page and this script again using favourites or history. I do not even remember if it was freeware but I remember:
Was made for early version of poser - P5 or earlier. Was made based on dynamic hairs script.

Does anybody seen or have such script?

Thanks

Thanks a lot. Looks very nice and I'm sure will be useful for me, but it is not this script.
This one which I look for added water drops efects on the surface - gave effect of wet skin.

Greetings for your dog - very similar to mine.

Was this a freebie script?  I can't recall anything for free that would add wet to skin - several pay for items here in the MP.

The dog(Violet) is a rescue dog & greets you back :) She is a schnauzer/terrier/Australian Shepherd mix(the eyes).  Lordy she is feisty!

Was it this?

An exerp from that page:

"The reaction from users has been extremely positive. I would say that about 30% of the Vue character-based renders you see on the major art sites use SkinVue. The only downside is the lack of a Mac version of SkinVue2 which probably will not happen until Vue 6." "I’m currently working on a way to simulate wet looking skin complete with water droplets and drips using a much generalized procedural method that will be added into SkinVue2 as a new Skin Type. My next major goal is to come up with a way to create and render human hair and animal fur. I’ve played with the idea of using EcoSystems to generate hair along with particle systems, but I’m still a long way from a workable, generalized solution."

Description looks very similar, but I think it is not the same. I think that was freebie (I'm not sure) but I haven't seen any samples renders (I'm sure).
Moreover I'm almost sure that author mentioned about generating dynamic hairs idea, just like here ecosystems are mentioned.

The drops plugin seems good but does it work on Poser 7? It only mentioned Poser 4 pro pack and 5.

It will likely work in Poser 6, but not Poser 7.  Python changed in Poser 7 and seems to need to have a script compiled for it specifically.

I heard that P7 uses older Python language. Is it possible to download and install newer version of python in poser? Maybe this let us use this plugin in P7.

I've seen thread about it here, but I did not understand all. I do not understand most problems with python :)

I don't know a thing about programming. TBH until I started with Poser, the only "Python" I knew of was the snake variety,  LOL

You might ask in the Python forum

You may be able to get it to work in P6 which uses the same version of Python as P5.

P7 uses a slightly newer version than P6.

Not possible.
Drops and MetaForm both contain native code which can only be used with the version of Python that it was compiled against.
The same is true of the built-in poser module, so trying to use a different Python library would cause nothing to work.

Will it work on Poser version greater than 4, like 5, 6, or 7?

Did a quick look at the site and saw that there were hidden function within Poser 4 that I don't think are in the later version. TreeMaker is one. Looks like a great plug in, tho...
