Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 1:20 pm)
Actually, when I had SR3 on my machine, it did likewise. After moving a parameter dial, or moving something, about forty seconds later I had a HUGE spike in CPU usage. I finally did Task Manager with the Ctrl+Alt+Del keys and it is Poser glomming onto the CPU. I never found out what was going on.
I reinstalled P7 and have SR2.1 on it and no more CPU spikes. That's not helpful other than to say, "You are NOT imaging things."

Thanks! It helps to have confirmation.
I do imagine problems most of the time, but this one apparently
isn't my private delusion!

I went ahead and backed down to 2.1..... hated to do it, because SR3
has lots of important improvements. But the improvements won't matter
if my CPU goes kerplooey.

Just a question: is this issue because of Poser 7 SR3 or Windows XP SR3? Did both companies release an SR3 for their products? And did they do it just to confuse people? :)

I've noticed this a few times now.... In the middle of working on a scene (not rendering!)
the computer's cooling fan suddenly jumps up to a very high speed. It won't go back down
until I quit Poser. This happens on scenes that didn't show any "strain" before.
I can't prove it's the new SR, but I've never heard this speed before, even during
rendering; and my scenes are relatively constant in complexity, so I know it's not a new
figure or something like that.
