Subject: I Need An Eyeball

Latexluv ( ) posted Mon, 28 July 2008 at 11:24 PM · edited Sun, 28 July 2024 at 7:30 AM

I am looking for a free model of an eyeball with cornea. I tried exporting P5 guy's eye, but I must have done something wrong, it won't take textures. I ran it through UVMapper and resaved, but it still won't take textures in P7. So I've come here, asking if anyone knows where I can find one on the Net.

Why not just load V3 or V4, add a texture and then make everything but the one eye ball invisible.

I just tried exporting a V3 eye (as an .obj file)  and then re-importing, and  it remained properly UV mapped  just fine..    Export dialog setting (for P4) shown.

Did you export his eyeball with "include existing groups in polygon groups" checked? If not, do that. Just go to File>Export as OBJ> Select Don's right or left Eye and nothing else. Make sure "include existing groups in polygon groups" is checked in the export options dialogue box.

When you reimport the new OBJ it will be completely white but you can either copy the materials over from Don one by one or if you have any Eye MATs or MC6 materials for just his eyes, they will load up now.

I played around some more and figured out what I had done wrong, and it had nothing to do with how I exported. I checked the right boxes. It was one of the material settings that needed to be set to transparent. However, now I've encountered another problem which would require me to remap the eye. On both P5 and Sydney's eye, the front is mirrored onto the back. Turn the eye around and there is another eye on the back of it. Wouldn't do if I had the eye on its side on the floor in a puddle of blood. I'm going to check out Dimension3D's link. Thanks for the link and the help guys. I'm still on the search.

Actually just make a square texture for the EyeWhite material and just make it the eye white with veins and no iris and you're done! Easy enough to do. I edited an existing texture removing the iris and replacing it with cloned portions of the existing eyewhite. Resaved it and applied it to the EyeWhite material zone. Viola! Eye White all the way around and the original texture still shows Iris on the Iris group.

I don't suppose the back of an eyeball looks like that, but I suspect I don't need to know what it really looks like. :scared:

Based on personal experience, I'd have to agree with you!   cringe

Looks like you guys don't watch horror movies, lol.
You can start training yourself by watching Demolition Man by Stallone and Snipes. There is a scene there where an eyeball is taken out with a pen and used to bypass a retina scan.

Passion is anger and love combined. So if it looks angry, give it some love!

Well that's what the back of Don's Eyeball looks like without an extra iris. :tt2:

I was too tired last night to even attempt something like that. But I think I understand what you're saying because I think that Ben's eyes are mapped like that. You described it up there and I remember an eye texture that looked like that when I was browsing through P7's textures looking for Sydney's texture. And thumbs up to The Owl! Hey, 'enhance your calm', dude! Thought I was one of the very few who really liked that movie!
