Subject: Sky Color Control

jt411 ( ) posted Tue, 29 July 2008 at 3:14 PM · edited Wed, 11 December 2024 at 3:07 AM

Hi all,
Before the 6.21 patch I was able to change the Sky color by clicking the color chip in the atmosphere editor next to "Sky Color Control." Now it's not working; I pick a color from the wheel and the sky just stays the same. Can anybody verify if this is a bug, or am I just losing my mind...again.
Thanks!

Looks like you just found a regression bug. Congratulations.

I'll get it reported.

I have a slightly different problem.  After I set it, it spontaneously either changes it back to what it was or to some weird color not even close to what I selected.  Also the filter levers do the same thing some times.

I'm so glad I'm not crazy!
Same thing is happening in the 6.5 Beta if that's any help.

You are not crazy, I already reported this bug a few weeks ago when creating a Sky pack for Carrara, hope they fix in 6.5 before it hit the streets.

Yeh it is one of the more annoying bugs.  While we are on the subject of bugs, has anyone noticed that on some models, if you move the camera you are viewing from close to an object or objects, parts of the object(s) will disappear?

This is the way that cameras works in 3D... I dont remember but theres a value to adjust to this, its called clip plane or something.

I had that happening to me.  It might not be the same situation but here it is.

I would zoom the camera in and parts of my model I was focused on would disappear.

I switched to a top view and found because of my mm on my camera, the camera was really close to the object.  It was actually when I 'zoomed' in it moved the camera into the 3d object which when the multi-view it just showed parts of the 3d object vanishing.  I thought I was going crazy.

What I ended up doing was moving the object further back  and chaning the mm on the camera to something better for the shot and I could zoom and move around so much better.  My camera was so close that even little pans of the camera ended up making the objects appear that they jumped around even though I just wanted a hair adjustment so to speak.

Whats odd is I went to original file and tried to duplicate it and if I set the camera mm back to something unreasonable and scaled you can see that the camera is too close, parts aren't vanishing etc.  Perhaps it was a glitch and when I clicked on a MM for the camera setting it 'fixed' itself.  I am not sure, but you could give it a try and see if it 'rights' itself.  I will have to recreate the scene from scratch and see if I can get it to duplicate it now.  I think it had to do with something about small model to camera size or something.  If I can replicate I will post again

I will have to look that up.  That may be what I was seeing myself then.  Thanks

This has been reported. Hopefully won't find anymore surprises.
