Subject: Someone who knows Poser 6... I need help

chaylastorm ( ) posted Wed, 30 July 2008 at 3:26 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 7:41 AM

Have just bought an iMac and have installed Poser 6 which I have had on my laptop (mac) for the last couple of years. Now I find that I can't save anything (pz3). When I save a setting I'm working on (usually only I figure), when I click on it to bring it back into Poser after closing the computer, Poser crashes. I have also found that it has done it with 'new figures' in the library, but not all of them. These are new ones I'm working on and not old ones from the laptop. I didn't have this trouble with the laptop and just wonder if anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it. Is there an update that would fix this, as I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Poser 6......v6.0.3.139
iMac....10.5.2

I use Poser 6, I don't use a Mac.  That's a whole different story.

Hopefully someone with a Mac will come along and be able to lend you a hand.

Thank you, I hope so too. It's sooooo frustrating to loose something that you have worked on for hours. I'm hoping someone can give me the address of a site that can help, as I looked around today and couldn't find one.

Just as an experiment, create or load a quick figure, under general pref : misc, uncheck the use binary morph target box and save the file. Then see if you can reopen it.

I have to use Poser 6 on a G5 at work, so I feel your pain.

Have just been into the 'official' site and I'm told the Poser 6 isn't compatable with the nice, new computer I'v just bought. It was bad enough that I can't use my 'classic' stuff any more.... now this?

Thank you chris 1972, that worked, now I will just have to re-make the figure I was putting together and can't use, still..... that's one more 'bug' out of the way. Can I call on you if I have any more trouble, as there doesn't seem to be much support for Poser 6 from the makers?

Yes I would be glad to help. Just keep in mind I'm not an expert really, I just had the same problem myself but on a PC.

I went from a G4 imac with Poser 5 (nightmare) to using Poser 6 on my Intel iMac.  I have had no problems.  I loaded Poser 6 then imported everything over from the G4.  I have never had an issue so far other than not enough RAM and someday I'll get around to fixing that.

Honestly I think maybe a reinstall might help.

I was told that if you delete the pmd files belonging to the scene file (or rename them ) then Poser will load the scene and allow you to reload the morphs that are missing.

I dont know if it works , but it seems worth a try to recover scene files.
