Subject: Noob Question #1 in a soon to be series of questions

Hey, so I'm really new at poser but really enjoying working with it. I recently found out how to do strand hair on the follicle patch on the head but i was curious as to how i would go about giving facial hair. If anyone could explain to me id be more than grateful thanks a lot!

p.s. I don't wish to annoy the "pros" of poser but i will most likely be asking lots of questions that seem noob seeing how I'm just starting to really mess with poser and loving it.

Goodness!  There is much easier ways to get hair on the head than using the hair room!  There are premade hair styles around in all of the stores, plus there are many free ones too.

Here is an essay of all kinds of information that you might find valuable:

Here is another on helping you to organize your content, which will rapidly get out of hand and to the point where you can't find anything.

Finally here is a thread with all kinds of links to free ready to use hair:

I'm not sure which figure you are using, but if you get the free Michael 3.0 figure (a link to him is in the first link that I posted), you can buy a beard package for him and with a click of one button inside Poser, you can apply facial hair to him using the beard package found here:

I hate the hair room. I couldn't think of anything of use to it. Maybe for making grass on ground that sways on the wind.

Passion is anger and love combined. So if it looks angry, give it some love!

Yes, you can apply facial hair to a figure via the hair room--I haven't tried it until about 30 minutes ago.  Its just a quick, very quick and dirty, very dirty. First ye olde hair room.

Document style:  The hidden mesh, 4th down-use that one since it will apply hair to that polygon face.

Next create a hair group (step 1) then step 2 edit hair group-group editor (ensure that the + button is activated click on add new group and name it, now go to the side of the face you want to attack first and sweep the area you want covered then click on grow hair guide and adjust the length of the hair.

That editor dropdown menu is very powerful and learning what it can do is important-there are folks here that know this menu backwards, forwards, and upside down--I know that they will chime in shortly and modify what I just stated (since I'm just barely gettin acquinted with it.  Jan

Actually, for a noob, you've asked a fairly advanced question.  This has been something I've been thinking about trying for a long time, but never seem to have the time to try. lol.

I will be interested in the answers.  Plutom's looks like a great start.

It can be done. I have done it. It sounds like the instructions Plutom gave are right. I'm aliitle confused by them byself, but I confuse easily. I just followed the steps as if the face was the skull cap. and made 2 different groups one for the beard and one for the mustashe. Then I messed with the dials in steps 2 to 4 until they looked right. Good luck.
