Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 13 7:48 am)
You might try this ...
Use the "Grouping Tool" and ...
Create a "New Prop" from the good top part (geometry) for the top half of the head
........(call it "HeadT")
Create another "New Prop" from the good bottom part (geometry) for the bottom half of the head
........(call it "HeadB")
Make sure that the "HeadT" and the "HeadB" objects are positioned*correctly and then ...
Export both "HeadT" and "HeadB" as a Wavefront OBJect to a file ... "NewHead.obj"
(make sure to check "Include groups..." or you will lose this info)
Import "NewHead" back into Poser making sure to UNcheck ALL options (except "Weld ...")
It is now a single object and if it looks good ...
Select the head on your figure and ... [menu] "Object" >>> "Load Morph Target" and ...
Walla !!!
Warning !!! .... The Morph Target (geometry) MUST HAVE the same number of vertexes as the head or you will get an error and the MT will not load.
If you encounter this problem, you may need to go back and add (or subtract) one or more vertices to (or from) "HeadT" and/or "HeadB" and then re- xport to "NewHead" ... etc.

Ah yes indeed Dr Greep,
they key fact i overlooked was that your step 4 is possible... because after creating 2 props in the group editor, i will find them in the heiarchy list when it comes time to choose what to export with FILE - EXPORT......as wavefront.obj
It is that method for changing props to .objs that i keep fogetting!
Sorry I am still newbie , but learning fast, I think
And I think i will most likely choose ploygons in a "racoon mask" shape that just includes the eyes for the first prop. For the second prop, of course I will choose the exact converse polygons of the head.
Thanks again, as always.

Greep! LOL! ........
........ And the beef goes on ...
I don't get it.....
inside joke? :-)
BTW- WOW that took a while to get the 2 different polygon sets to be exactly complimentary between eyes prop and rest of head prop. unfortuantely all of the massaging in the world could not makethe two props fit together....not even close really. There had been too much independent magnetizing and brushing on each separate part beforehand.
Oh well what is it they say...."back to the old drawing board."

Oops ... should have been ...
*"And the beat goes on." * ....... Sorry 'bout that .......... massive typo ... :cursing:
I was using da NaySayGuy's PC. Maybe that's why ... ;=]

BTW - When making Morph Targets (MTs) with magnets, it is best to do them one-at-a-time.
That is, load and adjust a magnet, Spawn MT, delete magnet, adjust MT, export .obj, etc.
Rinse, lather, repeat as necessary ... ;=]

Hi can someone recommend a good approach-
i worked for weeks creating a match of a famous celebrity head. everything is absolutley scary real except fort the most difficult facial part: the eyes. And unfortunately, i cannot fix the problems with the eyes, the damage to that area is way too deep. Long story. NOw, I also have another version of his head where the eyes are very good but i do not care to work for weeks morphing through the rest of this head.
Is there a way to Frankenstein together the top part of the head with the good eyes to the bottom part of the head with the good nose and mouth and end up with an .obj?
I think i could use the group editor to fashion together a prop, but I do not want a prop, I want to end up with one .obj to use as a morph target
Thanks
