Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
No, I had not tried that. I have just picked up my own copy of Vue 6.5 Infinite as one of my fellow Maxers has informed me that there looked to more options in this one while still having the cross program functionality as xTreme. After poking around--while I was waiting for my Vue 101 DVD from the Gnomon Workshop--I am starting to agree with this as my buddy only had xtreme V6.0 and it seemed very unstable with larger scenes in general--even some of the samples included with the program--whereas Infinite did not have any trouble with the same scene.
My helper in the Max forum brought me up to speed enough in the Max forum to convince me to take the plunge and purchase the program for myself and also showed me a fw things to do so I can get all the bells and whistles of Vue in my renders and still have the ground mesh available so I can animate on top of it and have it integrate in post as well as camera match.
My question to you, though, regarding exporting the whole scene--as I have not tried this at all yet--is this: does the vegetation come over as well as the atmosphere and if so, does it retain the animation of like the wind blowing?
Thanks for the help.

MMm never tried - but as I know from exporting obj from Poser; light will not follow. And I just did a test in Vue - it seams as you cant export a whole scene in other fileformat then vue file.
I know you can export terrain in obj file and also plats when you are in the plant editor. In in that export tab there is something about animation...but honestly I have used animation once, for just testing wind.
Have you asked in 3dmax forum? Oh and give CP3 a try ; http://www.cornucopia3d.com
OK, well, after playing aruond and doing some work on my own since getting the program myself. I learned why I was not seeing the geometry from vue imported through the extreme plugin: I had my Max display drivers set to Direct 3D. They needed to be OpenGL for the objects (terrain, plants, etc) to sho in the max viewport. I will let every one know who well the Gnomon training is once I get to it.

Hi all. A buddy of mine from my college days is letting me play with his copy of Vue Infinite and xTreme--and I am just amazed at the power of Vue's ecosystems. Being a native 3DS Max user, I am really contemplating taking the dive and integrating Vue into my workflow, but there is something I am unclear about--and my buddy, who is not a Max user, cannot seem to be able to aswer.
Here is my quandry:
I am able to bring my Vue scene into Max, but all it seems to bring in is a Vue Camera and a Vue light. What I am wanting to do is build my outdoor scene in Vue and bring it into Max for adding my characters and animation as well as final rendering within this app. But, since I cannot seem to get the Vue terrain and plants to show up in my Max viewports, I am not sure how to procede with animation of the elements in Max that are not Vue elements. Simplified: I want to have the Vue terrain to appear so I can animate my characters with respect to the Vie scene.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to just throw away a chunk of change for an appication that will not work for me.
Thanx!
