Hot?Maybe I ought to try for an image, lest the poetic spirit overcomes my good manners and more haiku (or gasp limericks) emerge from the keyboard. Anything has to be better than the hot dog haiku I wrote for another challenge a long summer ago.
I am copying and pasting an short prose that I wrote earlier in July in the Writer's Forum...
**Sticky, the air hums,
Violent thunder rent the stillness;
The dogs are laying in air cooled palaces
While the masters toil in the foul heavy hot air.
Not even the eighth month on my calendar,
That month of ancient dog days;
Nor the sixth,
when all the school buildings began to vacate and bake;
Somewhere in between, I am lost in the mist of my mindscape;
as I sit here on the sandy blanket, looking out at the green water
under my little round shaped shade.**
I hope this will do instead of graphics...

the background is my cognito painting (which is in my gallery) and the foreground is a photo i took and composited/cloned in in ulead. it was for a contest in a doll group back then. it did not win but people liked it :)
i will try to make something new but i thought i'd share this for now. :)
~^..^~
Glad that you can...
I decided that there was little hotter than a total solar eclipse (flares, surges, beads, glows) involving our very own bubbling hot sun. So I tracked down a webcam/telescope clinging to a peak on the border of Mongolia offering what was to be the clearest weather. Totality was set for a bit after 4 a.m. my time, but that wasn't a real problem. I can stay up. The telescope operator was from the Exploratorium, working with NASA, and quite professional with his/her filters (stopping down when the glare was too great, or narrowing in on prominent flares). Safe viewing for both viewers and lenses. ;)
So I sat for a couple of hours, hitting the "print screen" button when really nice bits came into view.
My intention was to take screen captures into Photoshop and play with them, giving NASA credit for providing the basics, as always.
On my other PC, a screen capture sits on the desktop and I can move it to the Mac for processing. On this PC? I have no flibertigibben idea where those screengrabs went. Both beasties are running XP, so I have no clue why they behave differently, or where those images disappeared. (If any reader knows where XP hides such things, please tell me.)
I'm so frustrated. I nabbed a couple dozen nice images of a wonderful eclipse... something should have been workable.
:(
At least when our caveman ancestors pecked out eclipse images with soot and red ocher, the image didn't vanish into the ether before it could be shared. Harumph!

I never knew you could make multiple screen prints without clearing the clipboard by putting the file in a graphics program! I thought that was the only way to do it, one at a time. I will have to look into this! I'm so sorry that something that works on one of your computers doesn't work on the other. Is one running a home version and the other a 'pro' version? Are there options in the Administrator setup? If you find out more, please keep us informed? Maybe you can do something with the Perseid meteor shower next week!

I'm sorry for not getting back to all of you sooner, but it's been HOT! I will be closing the entries on Monday, August 25 at 23:59 Renderosity time (US Central time). This will give us time for voting and announcing the winner, and hopefully for a new theme to be announced in the first few days of September.
Rita, just post your entry in this thread, using 'Attach a File' to upload an image and/or 'Link Name & URL' to provide a link to your gallery or another site.
There are some terrific and very HOT works here! Keep them coming :)

Hi everyone,Just found this contest and it looks I am on time.
Here is my entry for the contest and it's called "Delicious!!!"
What you see here on the picture is the thumbnail.
I've just seen that I have forgotten to title my entry.
So the title for my image is "Hiao" (sounds not very hot ;))

Summer Challenge - HOT
I haven't gotten word from the previous winner, so I have chosen a topic from a suggestions list I have been keeping. I think everyone can get involved with this one. It's simply... HOT. You can choose to portray a temperature or any of the slang meanings of the word, a feeling, lust, anger... I think this suits the season (in the northern hemisphere anyway, lol)
Let's run this until the third week of August, I will give you a day or so heads up and if anyone needs more time they can let me know. You may enter an existing work if you like, but we would prefer to see a new work created for this challenge... it IS a challenge after all, lol! You may enter more than one work, but remember that in the voting, each entry will be judged separately. Please, please, please put titles on your entries, especially if you have more than one.
Get out there and CREATE!!!
