Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Sounds like an OpenGL problem. Especially because it's happening
in the preview in both 6 and 7. The OpenGL code is sometimes part of the graphics
card firmware, sometimes part of the Windows system folder. So
most likely you'll either need to re-install your graphics driver or re-install the
OpenGL files in Windows.

Hi guys,
I have been watching this overactive thread (ha ha) and up until now, have not had anything meaningful to add (not that I really do now ... but) ...
I have seen this same situation from time to time and could never correlate it with anything else until ... one day ...
I had Poser(6) running and, for some reason, went on the internet to view a YouTube video (without exiting Poser) ...
When I returned to Poser ... the problem occurred as follows ...
Clicking on ANY one of the Camera Control icons caused the display to instantly make the xTran and yTran (and (zTran?) values to have very large (<1000) values) so that the normal view was no longer visible in the document window.
Manually entering new xTran (and yTran) values of 0.000 restored the view but clicking on any Camera Control icon again caused very large values to be entered into the parameters and the view in the document window would effectively disappear from view.
I have tried a number of things to try and correct this problem ...
(FYI -closing down Poser and restarting it did NOT fix it for me)
... the only way I have found to fix this is to reboot the PC.
Well, FWIW ... that's my $.02 ... ;=
cheers,
dr geep
;=]
P.S. Ockham - Please Note - Switching to SreeD did NOT change anything ... i.e., the problem was still present and I could only correct it by rebooting the PC. It appears to be a video driver problem but I have no idea how to fix it ... just don't try to watch any YouTube videos while using Poser ... I guess ... ;=[

Hey there Dr. Geep,
Thanks for the input - but that doesn't seem to be the case either, by which I mean watching YouTube while Poser is running, something I seldom (if ever) have done before today.
Rebooting does seem to work - sometimes - not all and this is a really capricious little happening, not much rhyme or reason apparent to me yet. I would say, though, that once it stops happening it seems to be gone - as long as Poser isn't closed. Once it goes away it seems to stay away - until the program is closed and reopened.
Doesn't seem to affect Poser in any other way, and really is more annoying than anything else. Thanks again.

***Ta-Daa !!!!!!!!!!!!
***I found something that fixes the problem without re-booting.
When the problem occurs, just do this ...
>>>> Press the "spacebar" on the keyboard <<<<**
and now** (on my system anyway) **the camera acts normally.

dr geep

Quote - I hate to imagine all the different things you did to you computer before arriving at that solution by trial and error.
Thank you. I have suffered this problem as well.
You DON'T want to know.
And the language used was not fit for print, either.
But, thanks for the observation.
Somehow, an input from the keyboard "yanks" Poser back to reality. (if that's possible, ha ha)

The last few days using Poser 7 sometimes it has to be closed and restarted a few times before the camera controls work right. By this I mean that any clicking on a camera control - move, drag, zoom, etc., results in the view in the preview window disappearing, i.e., a figure/prop is there, trying to modify view using one of those controls achieves this result. Clicking "undo" will restore the view - lest there has been an intermediate click.
This is with any camera - main, aux, head/face, r/l hand, whatever. If I use the parameter dials it doesn't happen but that doesn't seem to be as much fun - hey!, girls aren't the only ones who wanna have fun!
It seems to resolve itself after repeated closing and restarts but I wonder has anyone experienced or heard of such. I use Poser a lot, never experienced this before. May be caused by something I've installed, as Poser 6 seems to have the same issue when I opened it up.
Thanks in advance.
