Subject: Poser 7 SR3 is case sensitive to texture filename extensions

infinity10 ( ) posted Wed, 06 August 2008 at 10:22 AM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 11:15 PM

I found out that Poser 7SR3 is case-sensitive for texture filename extensions.

Example :
I was using this product :LM VIRGILIUS KING OF THIEVES
And I attempted to apply the MAT poses to the figure.  P7 whined about not being able to find the texture file or the file is missing.  I checked the files and they are all where they should be in default installation of the item.

I found out that the MAT poses were referring to files with upper case extensions, i.e. xxxxxxxxx.JPG is referenced, but the actual files in the texture sub-folder are with xxxxxx.jpg filename extensions.

I'm not slamming the product, because it must have passed QC some time ago.

I'm just pointing out a behaviour of P7.

I'm going to rename the file extensions to upper case and see how that works.

Using P3dO Explorer, I see that only 3 of the references in the MAT Pz files are seeking textures with upper case extensions.

I'll just change those.

OK, I can confirm that the file extension changes do indeed make the difference.  The MAT poses will process.

So now it's only the missing files - this is a store QA matter.

I am using Windows environment.

OK I know what is happening.  The difference in case format filename or file extension is not processable by Poser 7sr3.

The genital MAT PZ file refers to a file name with lower case letters in the genitals texture problem.

The whole body and face MAT Pz files are referring to the upper case letters in the file extension.

I can manually change the case format of the texture filenames to satisfy Poser, according to what is referenced in the MAT Pz files.

However, for the sake of other customers, it is best to amend the product so that the case of the filenames or file extensions  match those which are referenced in the MAT Pz.

Thank you.
