Subject: Create a poser face from an existing picture

giorgiomerigo ( ) posted Thu, 07 August 2008 at 4:14 AM · edited Sat, 10 August 2024 at 7:42 AM

How can I create a poser's  face that would be very very similar to a picture where the image of the subject hasn't been taken correctly. I know that poser works with a front image and a side image, but I don't have such information. How can I manipulate a figure in poser from an existing picture in order to make it appear real  when I don't have the front view?

what view do you have? That might be a start. There is a tutorial out there to make faces. There's supposedly a utility out there that can take a picture and make a texture map to go over a face.

I suppose you could use Photoshop (if you have it), or the Gimp (if you don't, it's free) to create a mapping of the face from your picture. Then using UVMapping, you could transfer that to the face.

Also, let us know what version of Poser, if you're just starting out, or know as much (probably) or more (quite likely..;) than I do from this answer...;)

thank's for your answer. well, let't try to imagine. you have a painting of some century ago. the man on the canvass look at you in front but he is painted in a different angle of view.  for that reason you don't have any view about the missing part of the face. so, I need to build that part so as to create the entire face in order to buil an animation scene with this figure inside. here we go. if you are interested in knowing and looking at the painting plese make me know your e-mail and I send a good picture. very kind of you.  in the while let's see the attachment. Unless the Inquisition got ahold of him, I'm sure you have almost the whole thing to go with here. The only missing pieces seem to be the ears. A bit of long hair would cover that, in a pinch.

C'mon folks, I barely know what I'm talking about. I know there's more knowledgeable people than me around here...;)
