THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Free DAZ MARBLES in BR5.5

bobbystahr ( ) posted Sat, 09 August 2008 at 12:18 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 6:41 AM

Well even tho someone here mentioned that these were for Br6, being bloody minded as I am, and I had dl'd em, I gave a shot at importing them to Br5.5 and wadda ya know...they work fine...get em while they're still there and if y'all miss I will oput them in my File Locker later if there's demand. I know they are not supposed to be re-distributed but as they are so unclear as to vrsio I feelthis would be O K amongst the community. Any nay sayers contact me and I'll abide by Admin rulings.. ...

I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound

Bobby they are only free thru  8-12-08...after that they go back to the regular price of  $14.95.

I don't think it's a good idea to put them here for download....lol

I think that's Daz' whole idea...get you over there for a good "temporary" freebie and sell you some more...lol  and they do it on a regular basis.  They are having a sale now....get 29% off of a $29 [or more]  order...they have some pretty good sales I  must say.  You have to get the coupon code from the forum announcement about celebrating the olymics.

At least you took a chance and it worked out for you..and btw...most of the things that say they are for bryce 6 will work in 5 and 5.5...at least thats what I've found.
It never hurts to dl and try it out.

While on the subject.. sometimes I run across these type of freebies, but I'm not sure if its proper to post or not.

Is there some kind of guideline of what freebies we can mention and not mention?

bobbystahr ( ) posted Sat, 09 August 2008 at 5:19 PM

If it relates to Bryce and it's free I see no reason you can't post it here...at least we'd all have a shot at getting whatever it is..so please do post in the Bryce Forum bout it.. ...

Bobby, for future reference, all mats should work with your version, wether they have Ver.6 on it or not. :-)

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sat, 09 August 2008 at 7:23 PM

So far, there has been no change in the .mat files of Bryce since at least version 4.

So, in effect any .mat file you can use in version 6 can be used back to version 4. (maybe further back than that, but version 4 is the oldest one I have)

Hmmm.....okay, I'll totally retract that statement.

I just tried to take the Daz Marbles into Bryce 4 and no luck.

I swear I used to be able to do that though.....ah, well, lol.

Yup, just checked a single B6 marble .mat versus a Bryce 4 .mat, the layout of the code is different.

You could copy the header info from a Bryce 4 mat, into the code for a Bryce 6 mat and then it would import into Bryce 4 but it sure doesn't look the same, lol.

Good to know...thanx for the info for the future...hopefully I'll at least get 6 for christmas cuz I been a real good boy...thinking seasonal is the only way I can cool off today...not hot by some standards but I've been toast all day from the +29C temps here. Guess you can tell we've not had much of a summer here as I can usually handle +30 with no problem, it just hasn't made it there more than twice this year...global warming you say...and I'm a believer...LOL

To be honest, I would never use those free mats, I would prefer to go photograph anything I need and use the textures instead. Looking through the MATs that Bryce offers, and I know one can create almost any style of MAT, most of them make a Bryce pic look amateurish, with the exception of less complicated MATs used for metals etc.. The only way to get a more professional look is to use photgraphed textures. Just my opinion.

CrazyDawg ( ) posted Fri, 22 August 2008 at 1:54 AM

i hate that...i saw the marbles and because i haven't been brave enough to install bryce 6 on my computer i didn't bother with them when they were free....bugger it all now i'm going to kick the dog, swear at the wife and call myself nast names.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.
