Subject: parse error: junk after document element at line 2

Where I open Poser 7 (last update) I read this:

parse error: junk after document element at line 2

What is this? please

More of the same here.

Top of the usual suspects appears to be your preference files. Awaiting some form of confirmation though.

Its kinda funny they call it "junk".

I got the same yesterday - " parse error: junk after document element at line 2"

The other day I got this one - " Parse Error: not well formed at line 62"

Someone in the DAZ Member forum suggested I delete an XML file at the following location:

Poser UI Prefs_1280x1024.xml
which is located in:
C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorApplication DataPoser 7

Thanks for all, friends

This is really weird.  I started getting both these errors a few days ago in Poser 6.  I wonder why this error should suddenly appear around the same time in different versions of the application.  Something to do with dates?

I don't have a DAZ account, so could someone please post the solution here?

Thanks

Absolutely I get the same error too.  Why Oh Why can't  they get it right?????
When does Poser finally have a rock solid version?

Hi

Do any of you have the box checked for "check for updates on launch" in your preferences?  A while back when many of us were getting this error we found that un- checking that box solved the problem. Since I did this I haven't gotten that error in some time. You can give it a try.

I hadn't thought about that and it makes sense.  For those of you who got Poser 6 when there was a Curious Lab website, well, the URL is hard coded to the startup sequence.  Hence we are getting something like a re-direct to smith-micro site and the "junk" is the re-direct, etc. I unchecked the box after reading it here as quoted above and it works!!! Of course you have re-start Poser for it to take effect.

Like the person said... Give it a try.

So that explains why it started happening to different people at the same time.  I tried it and haven't seen the errors since.

Thanks for the tip, PaganArtist!

You figure with Poser 7 and SR3 that SM would redo the code to point to their site not EF's

nyguy, have you taken a look at SM lately??? They are definitely not CP, nor are they, RuntimeMedia or DAZ3D... They don't have anything to do with Poser except to make money over fists with it... So it is any wonder ???
