Subject: Need help fixing MatPoses...

MatCreator ( ) posted Wed, 13 August 2008 at 5:05 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 11:54 AM

I cant remember how or when or even why, but for some very odd reason the MatPoses included in my Fantasy Hot Air Balloon set do NOT work in Poser, but work just fine in Daz Studio... I made the product so long ago, and for the life of me cant ever remember having this problem in past... Honestly, Id not have re-released the file if I was aware of this issue, I cant believe its something I never picked up on before, and I have used it, MANY times in Poser, Daz Studio and in Bryce w/o any problems...

The Poser Prop file and associated MatPoses can be found here:

And if it helps, one of the actual Matposes in text format:

{

    }
    prop HotAirBalloonX.OBJ__1

##This MAT Pose created for MatCreators Phantasy Hot Air Balloon.

All that stuff is pretty much Greek to me, I cant figure out whats wrong and why the pose wont apply in Poser, and ONLY Poser. I did try having a figure in scene 1st, and even adding a figure after loading the prop, but neither worked. I know Im rusty w/ my Poser mechanics, any help would be greatly appreciated...

Although I'm not able to try it out right now, I think your problem is this:

The pose file you give there will work only on a parented prop. If you want it to work on an unparented prop, change "prop" to read "actor". This will still need a figure in the scene, because Poser won't apply a pose without one. If you want to get around that, change the PZ2 extension to CM2 and store it in the Camera library instead.

My reference is Les Bentley's excellent Compendium of PZ2 techniques thread, at the link.

Had to go w/ the "actor $CURRENT" method, thanks for pointing me in the right direction =)

Its embarrassing, I have to make a fix on a freestuff item. Even worse, is that I didnt get any emails, just someone pointing it out as a comment, if I had not checked, Id not have ever known.

If Im not mistaken, arent you the UVMapper guy?!?

I've experienced the same thing. Some of my downloads had errors in them for months, before I picked them up myself. Those who know how to, seem to make do and mend quite cheerfully - it is a freebie, after all. Those who don't, presumably just give up and move on to something else.

I'm not Steve Cox, if that's who you mean. :) I am the featured UV mapper in the UVMapper forum sub-community, so I suppose I count as a satisfied customer. :D

Either way, thanks for the help =D

That thread is SERIOUSLY useful, I get into poser, but not on that level anymore, I just dont have the patience, lol...

I went through the same thing a few months ago, trying to create MatPoses for smartproped weapons for a character/armor set I created, and then it hit me... But even way before that, the reason I never fully developed the Hot Air Balloon in the 1st place was becasue I couldnt get the MatPoses to work in Poser, just in Daz Studio... It was abandoned, and thats why I found it sitting in my "archives" =)
