Subject: M4 at Siggraph?

replicand ( ) posted Fri, 15 August 2008 at 6:34 PM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 11:06 AM

There were so many neat things to see (and so little time) that I didn't go to the DAZ booth. It was only later that evening while flipping through September 2008 edition of Animation magazine that I read a blurb about M4's upcoming release.

I don't care what anyone says, togographically V4 is way better than V3 and I'm hoping the same is true with M4. Besides, V4.0 has been around for nearly 1.5 years, and it seems the other figures are taking a really long time to get to market. Went to the website - nada. Anyway I'm wondering if anyone here has heard anything; otherwise feel free to chime-in to confirm my insanity. Thanks in advance.

No, and oddly enough there isn't one thread over at Daz about M4 at ALL! Not one word written about him, and no chat images posted at all.

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

There were M4 previews at artzone a LONG time ago, I think Dan Farr's Artzone page still has the rough shots of M4.

There is a thread at Daz and Dan Farr posted some M4 face pictures and said he would have someone post more pictures and he hasn't.

Dan Farr has said that M4 is in the hands of the PA's or some PA's but since PA's are probably under NDA.

Other than that, no word on M4.

I cannot wait for M4 to be release.......cause then ApolloMax 2008 will come out!

 Sad :(

Either he is very tightly under wraps or I have not had enough tequila. To be fair, lots of the stuff I'd seen has not been updated on their respective websites.

my theory is the M4 previews which i think came out before V4 were actually the V4 male, but after the releas of v4 they decided to make a real M4 which probably has only just been started.
there is one word about M4 at daz from siggraph - there is a photo of the daz booth with a figure that could be M4 - not very clearly seen and just speculation.
love esther

Here's commentary about that on DAZ Commons forum
Siggraph and M4

They weren't promoting M4 at the booth

Last I saw of him he was being bound and gagged by Connie...don't know what that's all about. Maybe she's been in the cat nip. 😉

Wooot?
Kitty hides quickly before anyone sees her grinning like she swallowed a cannary....

...speaking of tying someone up and dragging him off.... if DAZ's Chad ever turns up missing, he's in my bedroom tied to my bedposts (ahem with his consent, of course! ahem).   They should have scanned him for M.. .something.

By the time daz comes out with m4 we will prob have v4.x platinum elite out lol

On a slightly related note, it's too bad the male figures are so neglected (not a dig at artists, obviously there'd be more stuff for male figures if there was more demand).

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Sun, 17 August 2008 at 2:02 PM

Hard to justify making too many male pieces, when sales are 5-10 times higher for female stuff.
Now, if DAZ set up a booth at a craft show, in addition to siggraph, maybe there would be a larger segment of female audience in poserdom, resulting in higer interest in male figures. Maybe.

Maybe DAZ3D will finally cancel M4 and declare women can live well enough without men...

and I know the opposite is not true

DAZ3D will finally cancel M4

No, they'll release M4 sometime around the end of the decade, and that'll probably be the last male character mesh to ever come out of Draper.
