Subject: Real World Metals for Carrara 1.1???

kaom ( ) posted Tue, 19 June 2001 at 11:07 AM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 6:00 PM

Does anyone know if the real world metals will work ok with the new 1.1? I'm thinking of getting them, but want to make sure they will work.

litst ( ) posted Tue, 19 June 2001 at 11:33 AM

I'll make a test tonight ... I think they'll work okay, but if not, i'll make an update . Thanks for your interest ! litst

I've noticed some weird things with some shaders that use transmaps in the preview in the shader room . Not really a problem, since the final rendering is good ... Better than before, it seams ! :) The renderer must have been improved a bit in the 1.1 version, i guess . litst litst.@freesbee.fr http://www.chez.com/litst/

I just bought them! These kick ass. All of my searching for killer metals is over, I take it you made these litst? I also went to your site and found a link to I-Tex, and downloaded the texture making programs. Are these any good? Did you use these to make any of your textures? Thanks!

Thanks Kaom :) Yep, i made all the metals in the pack, and the textures too . Some T-maps were made with the g-buffers of Carrara (the chains, the chainmail...), the others were done with Infinity Textures . Between this program and me, it was a love at first site . I knew that once mastered, it could do anything ( especially what photoshop does not ) . For a good example of what it can do, see the cane shader for Carrara in the download section of my site . Plus, the textures are all automatically seamless ! If you go to the news sections of its site, you'll be able to download a 2D particle generator that will be included in the next version of the soft . It's in Alpha, but is has less bugs than the particle generator of Carrara ! ;) It's not the first time i say all the good things i think about this software, but really i'd wish it was more used . litst litst.@freesbee.fr http://www.chez.com/litst/

litst, these shaders are incredible. I recommend them to anyone looking for a great set of metal textures for Carrara. A steal at only $15.00, they are saving me hours of editing textures, I like to use a lot of metals in Carrara, it's kind of like a 3D virtual machine shop, CNC machining right on my monitor. You rock.

Thanks :) I'm impatient to see the images you'll make using the shaders . litst

Hey litst! Am I to understand that you'll be adding more presets to the Real World metals pack? If so so will you upgrade me to the new presets, I bought them from bbay. I would hate to have to sit here and create all the killer metals you have made for us, these are making Carrara even more fun. EVERYBODY GO BUY REAL WORLD CARRARA METALS! You won't be disappointed, these are insane. Thank you again litst! I will post something I did with them soon, as soon as I finish something worthwhile.

litst ( ) posted Thu, 21 June 2001 at 2:29 PM

Thanks to you again :) The new shaders i'll make will probably be available for free, as an example of the package, Kaom . But it's not for today, i've got a bunch of things to do first ... Next thing on my list : cleaning my mouse because it's beginning to creak ! ;) litst

I would love to purchase these shaders they are exactly what I am looking for. Is there any other option for purchasing besides BBay? I am not going to fax and sign the Verified Customer Form. Get with the times people, this is a major legal issue waiting to happen. This is not normal for e-commerce! I did the non verified option and am still waiting for an email. Sheeshk what a pain in the arse! How hard is it to use an on-line credit card authority for checking your cards? Not very, have set them up on several sites I've managed. All these headaches and I am still willing to some how purchase this fine set is a testament to their quality! Now do you think you could sell them on a more modern site like say toolfarm.com?? ;-)

kaom ( ) posted Fri, 22 June 2001 at 2:10 AM

I just called their phone number and spoke to a ladie named Sherry Bryson, and paid with a credit card. I had to do the order online first, but then called them and they took care of me, no hassles. Call them first, then they'll have you do the non verified order and call them back,it was painless and safe. Then they send you a link via email to download the texture pack. Whatever you have to go through, it's worth the trouble, I promise you'll be very happy you did. And Sherry Bryson was very nice and helpful, she'll take care of any hassles.

Sorry for the inconvenience, PAGZone ... I guess we won't have these kind of problems when the pack will be available in the MarketPlace ... litst

PAGZone ( ) posted Sun, 24 June 2001 at 12:42 AM

Thanks Kaom, and litst. I never did recieve an email from them, but I will call them Monday morning. Good idea to do over phone. Thanks for the tip. PAGZone

There's a risk you'll got another problem PAGZone ... The shader package is not for sale on BBay anymore ! But it should be available in the MarketPlace here this week :) Meanwhile, you can have a look at the free sample pack on my site . litst

PAGZone ( ) posted Sun, 24 June 2001 at 9:22 PM
