Its not my usual gig to rant and rave about the features (or lack thereof) on Rendo. Really, I dont hang out in the forums here (or anywhere) much, and rarely voice my opinions. Im just a go with the flow kinna gal that way..... until my feathers are ruffled

That said. I am sooooo.utterly.beyond.irritated.by the site announcements.

Doubleyew-tee-eff are site announcements, you ask? You know... that little link that appears at the top of rendo when u sign on, which takes you to news or whatnot, and doesnt disappear til u actually click it and look at it. I just had one, which said "Check out whats on sale in the marketplace!" Hence why this is so freshly irritating me at present moment.

Hmmm seems to me if I wanted to look then and there, Id go to the marketplace, instead of what I intended on doing in the first place. So I ignore it and travel on my merry way. Alas, the ghastly link of sheer annoyance follows me... like a nagging little sister, and begs for me to pay attention to it, just to get rid of it.

Now, maybe I could see this being a good thing for dispatching news that we absolutely NEED to know, like updates, which render the site completely unusable for a time.... but to show off a sale? Isnt that sort of spam? Especially since, as far as I can see, there is no way to disable it or to choose what sort of content you actually see appear on it. Further, If I wanted to know what was new in the MP on a regular basis, I reckon Id be signed up for the newsletter, which I am not (otherwise, I just toddle my butt there and look, when in the mood to buy) Things of that nature should be optional IMO.

Call me crazy (and heh, a lot of people do ;op) I just think its sort of redundant and annoying. Do we REALLY need all that??

I had to click the link.. if for no other reason then to get it to stop following me around..lol  and found a small coupon to use :)  not huge but since I was going to buy something right after I clicked the link to get it to go away I was pleasantly surprised to find I could save some money :)

I clicked on the coupon link, saw it was a 12% off, figured cool, i'll come back to that later...wrong! Once you you click on it, it goes away. Oh well.

Id gladly give away any percent (even 100) coupon to get rid of the stupid link that never goes away. If Im not in the mood to shop, or if I dont have the money to spend, it does me no good anyway. And we all know, they are expirable.

As I said, I can see some people wanting it... or using it.... thats why I think it should be optional.

I agree having it be optional would be nice, as I said I simply clicked on it to make it go away and then curiosity (you know what that did to the cat dont ya ;P) made me follow the links and I found the coupon.. but like I said I got tired of seeing the stupid thing on my screen which is what made me click on it in the first place.. simply to have it gone..LOL 
Did you guys get any of Fay down there Ig?  We got hammered HARD here.. though I think most of it is gone now.. thankfully as we suffered through her for more then 12 hours.. my screen porch is now an indoor swimming pool..LOL

Yeah, actually we did get Fay.... tho not as bad as the west coast did for sure. Our winds maybe hit 50mph tops... if that even. Very rainy tho... Id stand to say more rain than wind, actually. She was pretty much gone by today, and they finally lifted the Tropical Storm Warning. And ack, indoor swimming pool, huh? Dont feel bad... Wilma gave my patio a skylight LOL Did you guys keep your power??

We did keep our power thankfully!  Most of what we got was lots and lots of rain and lots and lots of wind, by the time the outer edge hit us she was moving at a crawl (8 MPH) then she got even slower getting down to 6 MPH and she just sat on top of us..LOL Barefoot bay had a tornado and 2 waterspouts out by Patrick AFB (right down the road) but thankfully at 11 pm they lifted the tornado warnig/watch and the winds finally headed out a bit.. now its just a steady slow drizzle of rain though they have closed schools tomorrow too.. uugghh..LOL

hahahaa yeah, my son's first day of school was monday... they canceled school mon and tues. He'll finally start tomorrow. And yeah, at one point we had a tornado threat but I think it was a false alarm. She was painfully slow (those are the worst kinds) and I think shes trying to hit every part of florida, judging by her pattern LOL But yeah... didnt seem to be alot of power outages with her, thank god.

Apparently we are sitting in her eye now..LOL WOOHOO!  I hope like hell she heads out to sea as I dont want to see anymore of her..LOL

The news reports are saying that Fay probably will move back out into the water, and turn and come back across the backside of Florida, then possibly out into the Gulf of Mexico and possibly hit again somewhere between LA and Texas...ugh...

Yep.. at the moment the center is stalled approximately 15 miles north east of us.. so we are experiencing her backside.. woke up this morning to water everywhere and no longer have running water for toilets or sinks (UUGGHH!!) but we still have power! LOL  we have gotton more then 13 inches of rain in the past 36 hours and they are calling for the wrath of Fay to deliver yet more rain until at the very least Friday morning, they predict at least another 7 inches before its all over.. but on a lighter note.. I now own waterfront property..LOL (if you cant keep your humor what can you keep?)

I agree - quite honestly, its making me not wanna log on here at all. The more I clear em out, the more of them appear. If I don't clear em out?? They begin to pile up... and I imagine they would increase expotentially til I did finally click them. God, what about people who dont log in that often? They'd log in to see a page FULL of links.

Wow, then you'd have a whole chain. Actually though, Renderosity isn't just an art site, it's a business, too. And the way businesses are today, it's all about advertising and hype. More and more you'll see that everywhere you go. Can't run, can't hide it's gonna be there.
