Last 2 times I've come to the forums on rendo I've had a popup try to load and webroot caught two malware programs trying to run. It's trying to run microsoft.dat? Anyone know anything about this?
Did not allow it to run and am sweeping again on advice of webroot.

Also made me re-activate Windows. It's trying to install something from HiPoint Ltd., S.A.
http://golnanosat.com
Anyone know what this is???
Only comes up when I hit the forum button here at rendo.

Do an Adware scan using "Lavasoft"

And here I thought my kitty walked across the keyboard again. Darn cat tried installing all kinds of stuff on my 'puter when I'm not looking.

If you're using Firefox download & install Adblock Plus & NoScript, you'll almost never be bothered by malware again, for those rare items that get past those 2 AdAware from Lavasoft is my weapon of choice too.

I've been downloading loads of freestuff from here and all over the web, and never thought to ask, you can't get a virus in a Poser file can you?

I don't mean if someone creates a bad EXE installer or tries to trick you into running a script, that would be rather obvious. I mean the basic text based CR2, PZ3 Poser files.

Technically you could get a virus if someone could figure out how to write one in Python because CR2's, PP2's, FC2's, LT2's & PZ3's all have the ability to call Python scripts when run. But honestly, I don't think anyone has ever bothered trying yet.

Marque, are you using Firefox?

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

Marque ( ) posted Thu, 21 August 2008 at 12:17 PM

No happened in IE. Caught 4 bad ones and found more when I did a full scan after updating. Also just had a cookie from anton try to download, must be a link to his site or something that someone has in their signiture.

Ok just checking.  I'm running Firefox and haven't had anything like this happen.

Just got an empty email from Renderosity, so is someone spoofing or do they really have a virus?

ignore it. it was a mistake by Debbie last night.

My deepest apologies for the inconvenience.  That was completely my fault as I was gathering some data for reports, and I accidentally hit the submit button and it sent out a blank email to all previous buyers.
