Subject: V6 Infinite and Poser Pro 7

Porthos ( ) posted Tue, 26 August 2008 at 3:32 AM · edited Thu, 05 December 2024 at 12:01 AM

Hi! I hope someone can help me. I saved a simple poser scene, a toadstool to be exact. When I import it into Vue 6 Infinite, I always get a message to locate the textures. I have my Poser Runtimes outside the Poser directory. I assumed that Vue would import them automatically when they're saved as a poser scene! Any help would be appreciated. I have the latest Vue updates installed!

Personally, I had bad experiences with Vue when I had multiple poser runtimes. When I merged all into one single runtime, all problems disappeared. But then comes another problem, which is the management of a big runtime. Fortunetaly now there are several management tools for poser runtimes (I personally use P3dO Explorer, from senosoft).

EDIT: I have one single runtime, inside Poser directory.

Thanks Rutra, I'll transfer my runtimes to see if that helps - it's BIG!!! :)

I think I must be about the only person who doesn't have any problems importing Poser stuff into Vue and I use external runtimes :)
I wonder if it's a Mac vs windows thing (I'm on windows)

It worked for me before I had a computer crash, now that I've re-installed everything, Vue has decided to throw a hissy fit! I've transferred all my external runtimes to poser, everything works fine - for now! :)

Glad to hear you're not having any problems! :)

add the textures folders of your Poser runtimes to the material collections.
Vue will search for textures in these.

It's probably due to the fact P7P writes relative path and no absolute path.
To avoid this problem, if i set up my scene with P7P, i resave it with P6.

I think svdl has made a script to change the way the path are written for a pz3, but i can't find it right now.

Tried that, it didn't seem to work for me! :(

Anyhow I've migrated my runtimes back into Poser 7 Pro and everything is now working fine!

Thanks for all your help!

I import without problem Poser file with textures (P5,P6,P7,P7pro)
I set Vue infinite (Windows Vista 64 bits version) preference for P7 and my P7 is  pointed to runtimes of P5,P6,P7 and P7pro
¸I install my new  files on P7 runtime (P5 and P6 runtime are still very big) and use P7 pro for pose, render save etc with P7runtime by default
It is like using P7 pro with 3 big  externe runtime

The problem is not due to mac or pc it is because Poser pro and poser 7 SR3 use relative paths in the PZ3 which vue can't locate things anymore.  I have written to eon and they are working on a fix.
It only affects people with multiple runtimes and poser pro or poser 7 SR3.
There is a python script by svdl - can't find it for u - baby wiggling -  gotta go

isn't there a script IN Poser to export all scene elements to a file?
that should work :)

oh  I don't know, but I do know that those python scripts work beautifully making poser and vue compatible once again.
