Subject: Introductory Training Video

InfoCentral ( ) posted Mon, 12 May 2008 at 12:35 AM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 10:46 AM

Just ran across this from a site that does primarily Flash training but apparently is getting into the Blender training as well.  The videos are very cheep with 2 hours of basic training for $15 and 4 hours of basic training 2 for $20.  They are going to produce a third training video centering on animation but it isn't available yet.

Well,
I bought the three parts and I consider it money well spend.
I am halfway through the course and already Blender is making sense and you can work with the program on your own.
I had a question during one of the lessons and the author immediately answered my question.

If you work through these three parts and after that through the Underground 5 part videos, together with Greybeard's tutorials, you are well away.

Depending on how much time you have but if you have enough time yoy can learm Blender within a month.

Blender did not made sense to me, even after working through pdf tutorials for a long time, but now it is so easy. I can't believe that I have struggled so much earlier.

Regards
Johan

I also purchased the three part series, best $40 I ever spent.

I must be mistaken.. but I thought any screen shots of the Blender interface were GPL material?  I'm not clear how they can sell video tutorials, which most likely show the interface, when screen shots of the interface are GPL and/or Copyrighted.

Now, I'm not really the one to ask about fine points about the GPL, but I don't think the GPL says you can't charge and it may be derivative enough to be fair use.  To analogize, books like Linux for Dummies, which doubtless include screenshots of GPL interfaces, exist and do quite well.  Regardless, I don't think it's in anyone's best interest to restrict such things, and they won't be unless the license or copyright holder goes after them.

looks like the book for me.

Heh :)

What can I say, I got it.  At a great savings to boot.
I look at it this way, if I have a better understanding of the Linux operating system, how dumb can I be?
I'm finding Dee-Ann a great motivator. Thanks for the tip. :thumbupboth:

Great!  Disclaimer: I haven't actually read that, it's just the first thing that popped into my head when I was trying to think of an instructional book for something under GPL ;)  I'm glad you're finding it useful.  Good luck!

I haven't had a lot of time to read, with getting ready for winter and all. I've gotten to chapter 2, and already I have been enlightened.  So far, good book. 😄

They are talking about "artwork."  If you decide to take a screen shot of your artwork which includes the components of Blender then you can't claim that as being "your" artwork since it includes components of someone else's work.
