I've thrown this together as my new homepage for my website. Any comments on improving it? Thanks! (",) (Many Thanks to PixelMonkey, whose tutorials gave me the ability to do this!)

...sorry, didn't make it at all clear! The top 'screen' will have a scrolling message - the side screen will have the buttons and the images will come up in the main screen. Or something like that. Who knows what my twisted mind will come up with?!?

Wow that's fancy! You guys and gals are all so fancy. Java scrips and stuff! Gee. This almost makes me want to learn HTML ect. Bsteph

The actual picture size is roughly the same as this, so download time isn't bad, but I'm having to break it down to put the links, buttons etc on in the right places.(Thanx, Alpha! DIV is working a treat!) Unfortunately, I can't claim for the concept either - the idea is based on PixelMonkeys own, the rendition is mine. His is MUCH better!

Pretty cool! Did you find out whether you can use JavaScript on the web host you're using?

Slynky ( ) posted Thu, 28 June 2001 at 11:45 AM

Java script shouldn't be a problem on any host really. Without java script, and average page won't function, and all we'll have is a personal page with resumes. If you want a really wicked program, look up Macromedia Fireworks. The macromedia site offers a 30 day trial download of it, and as far as I know, the 30 day timer is the only limit. Complicated roll overs and menus systems, the java script is written by Fireworks itself, and the script is then custimized for whatever you want to export it to (Dreamweaver, Front Page, Note Pad, etc). Take a look at ti. judging by what you posted, it looks like you very well might be using it already! By the way, forget about photoshop for the web. Fireworks is the king for the web. Photoshop is best used for print. Ry

Kewl! :-) I think Photoshop does a pretty good job for me, though. It has web optimization capabilities that can decrease file size with the best resolution. You need help? Just let me know :-)

Thanx for your comments, people! I'll be posting the link in the forum soon, when I get it all sorted out a little bit more. I've got to admit, I've found Photoshop is doing everything I want at the moment, and without too much difficulty - I'll pass judgement as it progresses!! Once again, thanks for the offers of help too! I'm sure I'll get stuck soon - I've gotten a bit further than I thought I would so far!! Ciao! (",)
