Subject: Multiple meshes in one 3ds

Merlin_Studios ( ) posted Thu, 18 September 2008 at 10:51 AM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 2:22 AM

OK I apologise if this is a silly question, I've created a sword and scabbard model in 3Dstudio as 2 separate mesh objects.  I've exported it as one 3ds file and when I import it in Poser 7 it displays as one mesh and I can't separate them.

Is there anyway to select each mesh object, or do I need to create them as 2 separate 3ds files and join them together in Poser?

Thanks
John.

I’d import the sword and scabbard separately in the obj. format. For whatever reason, its not common practice to use the 3ds format if you intend to save to the prop library. Make sure everything is unchecked in the import dialogue. Both objects should arrive right where you placed them in the modeler. Parent the sword to the scabbard.

Open the .max file and select the sword, then use "export selected", and then do the same with the scabbard.
