Thanks Shadownet, you're too kind!
If you have wings down pat, why not stick with wings. I can't say I tried it but sounds like a very good program.
I got lucky with hexagon, it sort of clicked with me. I was learning it ate th same time with couple friends I waas IMing with, so we could talk about it while learning. I think that helped a lot.

I can't do tutorials where things are explained step by step, I lose attention waaay too quick.

I have to learn by trying things, getting in and out of trouble, or dediding on a project, then learn along the way.

Not really, you do nice work and I am just stating the facts.  :O)   In fact when I have more time I am going to read through the post here again for what I might have missed the first time, since I was mostly skimming at the time.

As for Wings, not bad but limited.  I got Hex because it has some features that would make some things easier.  So I do want to learn.  But I tend to use multiple programs anyhow, because I even use Poser to model some things, since the magnets and morphing tool both make doing some things much easier than I can in Wings.  I was thinking when I was reading how you did the laces when it came to the part of having to adjust them, that magnets or the morphing tool might be easier there, but not sure if you can export mesh and import into Poser work there and then back into Hex the same way you can in Wings.  Some programs you have to freeze the mesh first before you export and then can not work with the same way after that - when you import it back in  - or so I have been told.

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Fri, 25 July 2008 at 11:07 PM

Tou can go from Hex to poser and back but only only before you group the model - at least that's how I know how.
Lately I've been using Zbrush for making morphs, after things are modelled. It took me a while to get the hang of things in Z, but now that I did - man is it easy making morphs there. For one, you can load a grouped item in there and morph across groups.  I don't know why I put off working with Z for so long, it would have saved me so much time and effort a while ago.

Oh, BTW, Love you avatar :)  Tigger thinks it's her!

Is there any news on the outfit? It is suddenly quite quiet on the thread everyone is busy testing I suppose. Maybe a beta teaser image or three? Even better would be the news that it was so brilliantly put together that it was released to the store and I somehow missed it! 🆒

This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Fri, 01 August 2008 at 7:29 PM

Thanks for Asking, no you didn't miss it.
I am working on torturing - I mean, incorporating the first round of feedback from beta testers.
There's still fair amount of work to be done before it's submitted to the marketplace.

Or is that just me?

Vince - I couldn't find any boots in my size, being a size 12, finding boots like those are hard to come by!
Anyhow, Frank says I can borrow his.

Connie - So, so sorry Connie about your job. Life's a bitch sometimes. Chin up girl, we still love you here!  😄

Sorry, had to put this picture up again in case anyone missed it!

Damn, I want this outfit now. Just think of the cool renders to be made!!

Connie, YES YES, I really like the second boots!  What a great creative idea to put that hole in the heel. Totally rocks!!
The block heel I think is in keeping with the originals but with your great touch.  If you do make them with the laces going through the hole that would be so cool! :thumbupboth:
I like these because she could do her action stuff in them & yet still look sexy, what a combination!

is this out fit availble for V4.2?

Hey guys and gals, if anyone is still watching this thread...
We're in final stages of beta testing, and if I'm lucky towards the end of next week I'll be submitting this to Rendo's product testing. Usual turnaround there is about two weeks.

Also, I wanted to let everyone know about **Bad Kitteh Co.
**
It's still me, Conniekat8, but I'm using **Bad Kitteh Co. **for my 3D content making brand name. Current Windy Wizard Robe is already changed BadKittehCo name, and stormchaser outfit and anything else I make, freebie or marketplace will be submitted under BadKittehCo.

I'm still going to make personal posts in forums as conniekat8, unless I get confuzzed what account I logged in as - which is bound to happen more then once or twice.

What you see in the avatar is the Bad Kitteh Co.  Logo - thanks to everyone in the critique forum for thoughts and suggestions on developing it.

And this is a progress shot of the new meshes -

I'm redoing all the meshes (what you see in the previous pic)  for GND 4.0 and 4.1. I was going to adjust them, but they didn't look nice enough to me after tweaking.

Also, it will have a different looking boot. Little less 'army' looking, and more ankle high construction bootie, similar to doc marten's.

The outfit will look 'daisy duke' style without accessories, and 'toolbelt' like with the hardhat and accessories.
I'm planing on two pairs of shoes. Construction booties, and probably couple hats. Maybe Hardhat and a cowboy hat.  But... some of theese details may change as I go. I may save the cowgirl hat for another outfit. I haven't decided yet.

Thanks, Connie.
It's still a WIP. I'm heavily modifying the short version of Naomi's 5 Times the Ladies C6 Dynamic hair from DAZ3D to make it similar to the AeonFlux hair from the movie. Unfortunately Carrara stopped responding when I went back to try to make some more modifications, but at least I got that render out of the deal.

lorenzo1974 ( ) posted Fri, 07 November 2008 at 9:38 PM

OT question: Guys, what hair does - in your opinion - suit GND4 best? I mean hair which will not look too cartoonish...

BTW Connie, just a small criticism on your Stormchaser outfit (which I do love and will buy asap): the high heel/platform boots. As I see it, Stormchaser is supposed to fit an action character, something like Aeon Flux, Trinity (Matrix), etc.
Well, in my own experience with women, high heels and platforms aren't the top choice if you have to run/jump/dive and so on like an "action girl" is supposed to be doing most times :-)
Your outfit is still outstanding, and the boots way more realistic than most things you find here at Renderosity lately, but in my opinion a pair of boots on the line of Treadz (for instance) would have meant absolute perfection.

Thanks a lot for the info ^^

Since you've been so kind I'll pester you with a couple more questions:

I'm just starting so, after having bought the Victoria 4.2 files, GND4 and Stormchaser (in addition to some other files) I'll be using the Poser 7 demo and DAZStudio a bit to see if i can make something with them (if not i won't have lost too much money so far :-p) and choose which one suits me best.
I'm biased towards Poser, but I was wondering if the new Animate stuff for DS is worth taking into consideration.
Also, my aim would be to buy Vue7 Esprit (cant afford Infinite or XStream for what would be just a hobby) and RDNA Render Studio... is it possible to import from DS to Vue or is it only possible with Poser?

Thanks in advance,
                                Lorenzo

vincebagna ( ) posted Sun, 09 November 2008 at 1:15 PM

To import from DS to Vue, you have to export your scene from DS as obj. It's the only way. Vue only support Poser in a native way.

More like Rendo "Soon"
I asked mid October if that gives them enough time to release it by Nov 7th. They said Nooo worries, plenty of time. So I advertized the release on Nov 7 or before.   Outfit cleared testing yesterday, they just started testing it's two add-ons.

In the meantime, looks like there's a server issue, so I can't upload the final files till that's resolved. I asked in vendor support to reset my uploads so I can ty again... but doesn't appear anyone is 'on duty' today to do this.

At this point, I'm feeling like your avatar LOL!

Connie, sorry to bother u again (and again, and again... ^^)... what are the two add-ons?
Also, are u planning further add-ons for Stormchaser? In that case, would you accept suggestions, requests, generic pestering and so on?

Conniekat8 ( ) posted Sun, 09 November 2008 at 8:28 PM

There is an action a pose pack coming out, for V4, but optimized for this outfit. I believe well over 100 poses.  Also, there's a texture add-on made by daventaki. Theese three are due to be released all together on the same day.

What I hear is that there are very likely two other texture add-on packs in the works as well. One quite possibly by outoftouch.

If I get a lot of interest and ideas, there may be other add-ons. I'm always wiling to hear requests! I can't always guarantee they will happen - fgor a number of reasons, I will always listen.

Also, every so often I release a freebie here and there to add to the pack.
Make sure you keep an eye on my forums: http://www.cb-design.net/phpBB3/index.php for any freebie add ons, and also for product support.

One note of caution, this outfit is pretty complex, and is more suited to intermediate to experienced poser users. It may have a bit of a learning curve for newer users. I did make a mini tutorial on how to use it, right next to your figures, in Poser, and also in additon to the readme, there's a PDF manual - all included in the product. So, hopefully that helps.
