Vue 6 is now on sale at 50% off.
I have to assume Vue 7 is right around the corner. Any ideas when it will be released?

No one knows mate, Siggraph came and went with little information, my personal thought is Vue 7 is in alpha stage and wont be released until mid to late 2009.

that's cool. Will step up to Vue 6 Pro today then. E-on has the 50% sale, so its a good time to pick it up. I love Vue.

A few weeks ago I was almost lynched for having written that Vue7 would be out by 1Q09...

Bye!!!

Eh, that's not a lynching matter...that's probable fact, same as with Vue6/5Infinite release,Alex :)

...at the time, the party line was that Vue7 would be released by the end of 2008.

Anyway, I think that now there is enough data to understand what happened.

E-On has given maximum priority to the seamless integration of xStream inside hosting apps (one of mandatory requirements to enter the architectural rendering business).

To do so, they had to struggle with each of the embedding toolkits of the various apps. Vue is surely an atrociously complex application w.r.t. to other plugins, so E-On stressed each toolkit to its limits, undoubtly exposing bugs which had to be fixed by the other companies development teams. Just imagine the effort to track the bug, notify it the developers, overcome the "it's not a bug, it's a feature" defence, wait them to fix the thing, try it again and... discover that it is still broken (or broken in a different way)... rinse and repeat. It must have been a dreadful period and therefore it is actually astonishing that they found enough time and energy to add some more features.

I would advise them to take their time and target August '09 SIGGRAPH for an actual release (nobody here around, not even the best of us, can say to have reached Vue6 limits, so there is no compulsory short term need of more candies...).

I say Vue 7 is coming out very soon.  The announcement for upgrade pricing will be made before the end of November.

do you guys think e-on will place the ecosystem 2 in the Pro Studio package in version 7, as they put version 1 in the Vue 6 product?

Well, I hope render times improve dramatically...'cause I love Vue but the render times put me off using it as much as I would like to.
